My son plays Roblox and we refuse to buy him robux and it doesn’t seem to affect him playing anything at all.

 

my young cousins are a little mentally wrecked by the monetization of Fortnite. kinda funny kinda sad.

one of them tried to ask me if he could buy some shit the other day, when his dad wasn’t in the room. I was like dude I’m not your dad lol.

 

HS card packs (and especially OW loot boxes for only cosmetics) are bad. Sure they give you in game currency when you get dupes but if you wanted just one particular card or skin the exchange rate is pretty fucked if you're not spending money. Iirc a legendary card cost 1000 but only grants you 400, and with the meta constantly changing sometimes an entire deck archetype can center around one card and if you don't have it you're maybe not winning as much

Also the top archetype is always aggro and it was super annoying trying to do anything different but that's another discussion. Single player deckbuilders ftw

 

Played like 2 hours of the Forbidden West PC port, and while the port is great, the game feels really awfully and sticky and just ... extremely uninteresting.

even as a huge Ashly Burch fan (wonder what she's playing nowadays) I just find her grating in this game. Also the fact that I unlocked 1 skill point in that time is perplexing from a pacing standpoint.

Open world RE9? Fuck, I'm in.

 

I feel like I'm missing something here. RE feels like a metroidvania in that while the map is interconnected the story's linearity is achieved structurally through blocked pathways that need keys (in lieu of what in a metroidvania's case would usually be an ability) in order to progress. An open world implies that the entire map is available from the outset, and while that's definitely interesting within the context of RE, I feel like aside from the technicality I just described there's not much difference between the maps in a metroidvania (once all the paths are unlocked) and an open world game. I guess my confusion is what the game engine provides towards map design that wasn't already there. Which is to say, RE's map design is consistently good so I trust in Capcom's ability to make a good game and don't actually have anything negative to say about this whole thing. End rambling

Alright having played this the last few hours all I can say is

IT'S GOOD TO BE BACK.

As much as I enjoy map checklist games, there's just something that's so refreshing to just wander around s wide open world, rereading the quest log to find where to go, wander off the path and get obliterated by a cyclops. I must have not gotten to one of the big cities where people have mentioned frame drops, I've been to small towns and encampments and it's stayed fine. Feels like a solid 30fps and I'm still enjoying the hell out of it.

 

Rockstar has a history of delays, with their most recent RDR2 being delayed twice. I've come to expect delays with that company. And if it means they're not treating their employees like garbage and awful "crunch" behavior, then I'm all for it.
