well for starters, it’s not the 10th largest city in the country. Not even close. City population doesn’t mean anything cause the entire 800 square mile Duval county - most of which is very rural - is the Jax city limits. It’s a weird loophole. It’s actually more like the 30th largest city in the country when you compare like, the metro population which is more accurate.

Having said that, how many cities that size actually do have a cultural footprint? Sure, Nashville and New Orleans have strong cultures but what about like, Columbus Ohio? They are nationally known for nothing except Ohio State university. What’s the cultural footprint of Indianapolis, fuckin horses? The Indy car race that happens once a fuckin year? That’s like if I said the cultural footprint of north FL is the Daytona 500 lol. What’s Milwaukee’s culture “we drink beer and eat cheese”? Okay, Jax drinks beer and eats shrimp lmao. Las Vegas is famous for casinos but is that really “culture” or is it just capitalism?

it’s not big enough to have a national identity, that’s pretty typical for medium to small sized cities like that
