someone tried to tell me recently Warren Sapp > Aaron Donald and just lol

 

I wonder what weird stuff will come out about Jordan Love in like 5-10 years based on the Packers QB history over the past years

 

My guess is that people are gonna learn he played for Utah State

couple years ago he was, not so much lately

 

Watt might be underrated tbh. Which makes sense cause injuries did kinda cut his career short. But at his peak he was the best 3-4 defensive end we’ve ever seen in the NFL. No one else has an argument the way John Randle still does over Donald

JJ Watt’s role required him to get double teamed every play and be responsible for the B gap almost every play and he still had that many sacks and pressures

 

Aaron Donald closing that super bowl victory puts him over JJ I think. Not JJ's fault they never made one but still.

plus Donald being undersized for the position

 

Injuries are my argument for Donald over Watt. If you could rely on Watt playing as much as Donald did it'd be a lot closer for me

 

I just saw the Draft trade, at first I never like moving that far down but I'd assume Caserio thinks the cluster from 20-40 will be about the same caliber of player

If the Vikings sucks that Minny 2nd could be a last 1st rounder basically next year

So really it's 'wait and see' as usual

 

Interesting though, that they still have basically the same number of sacks!

 

To think Watt was put in position to get sacks the way Donald was is to not recognize the nuances of different DT / DE roles. A 4-3 DE (like Myles Garrett) gets more rushing opportunities than a 4-3 three-technique defensive tackle (Donald) - but both of those get more one on one upfield rushing opportunities with limited gap responsibility than a traditional 5-tech end in a 3-4, which is what Watt was

 

Donald only played 3 more games apparently

 

Yeah it's close and they've played near the same number of games, just with Donald doing it across 10 seasons and JJ doing it across 12. But I value the consistency of knowing the player is gonna be there most of the time, it makes the difference. If you don't know the guy will be there when you need a win now, what then?

 

Oh okay so that’s a wash. But my other point still applies here imo (not that anyone needs to agree or change their mind)

 

It's funny because this is what people were saying about the Cardinals/Texans trade haha. "Oh, they'll suck, it'll be a high pick"

 

Yeah I'd never argue anyone's wrong for picking Watt, I've seen what he's done plenty

It's just my opinion

 

pretty sick to see all time players like that play their entire careers though. I mostly learned about football from watching a lot of those NFL Network top 10 talking head type shows and it was a lot of "man how good was Barry Sanders 14 years ago"

but we were all witnesses, so to speak to Watt and Donald.

 

Im the biggest JJ Watt fan and even I would choose Darnold.
