Whether or not she wins the award Gladstone is going to have a lot more opportunities now because of the critical reception of her performance in the film. It isn't like she is going to get fired from something because she didn't win the big award after four months of other awards.

On average they make much more for the next few projects because they can put "Academy Award Winner X" on the poster.

Maybe the nerds who calculate Oscar win odds can look into percentage increases in pay for Oscar winners compared to their acting peers or whatever.

  10. i'm no nerd with data but i think getting nominated in some categories would grant you access to more power and freedom to pursue projects you're interested in

but like, Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie will be fine. it's a bit more upsetting when it's a person of color getting "snubbed" like Celine Song and Greta Lee

but what do i know, maybe the Oscars have no effect at all on what does and doesn't get made

Celine having her debut nominated for screenplay and best picture isn't exactly snubbed, sorry just feels like people are missing how cool that is

I've seen anywhere from 20 percent to 80 percent increase. It really depends on how famous someone was already. Most established actors have an established rate, and they usually try to bump it when they can call themselves an Oscar winner.

It depends on a lot of other factors, though. I don't think Robert Downey Jr. can get much more than he already gets, and the older the award is the less people probably care about it. Since the Oscars have gradually lost relevance the pay bump probably is getting smaller too.

The only thing I can point to is that Dan Akroyd was definitely never that hot.

Getting more opportunities isn't a guarantee that you'll pick the good ones or that you'll be particularly good in them. It's inarguable he got booked more after the Oscars gave his profile a boost.

    Weird contrarian nonsense.

  20. Yeah, I don't think of Broadway as inherently less prestigious than Hollywood. That being said, I don't really pay attention to theater. I've noticed a lot of og Hamilton cast members have gone on to be in film/tv, though, but again, that's like the only musical I'm familiar with

I am watching all of Yorgos Lanthimos' English films. I am 25 minutes into The Lobster and i already think I like this more than Poor Things and The Favourite. Going to do Sacred Deer after this.
