All this is telling me is we are still a LONG way away from an album.

not sure rock music is any better suited to focus grouping than movies are but go for it I guess

tbf they didn’t explicitly say they’re looking for input from the audience but could simply be looking to see how people react

We reach for the longest shadow

I cannot imagine how cringeworthy it will be when some neck beard legitimately tries to critique a song after hearing it once live.

In ther post they mention that they view it similarity to how stand up comedians work out their material on the road prior to putting out a special. I feel like that context makes some sense

    just one of those ghosts

Without hearing their actual intentions, if all they mean is to subjectively gauge an audience's reaction to a bunch of new material in a live context, that seems like a cool idea. A lot of bands talk about how new songs always develop more once they start playing them live, which in generally after they have a chance to change the recorded version.

As much as I would love to hear the new stuff - I kind of hope they use one of those companies who put your phone in a bag and give it back at the end of the show. I love the vulnerability and risk they are taking but I wouldn't want to see an entire set be released on youtube and have all of those people chime in.

I create content for some of your favorite artists

I'd like to imagine a record is close to being done and they're gauging what goes over best with the crowd to decide track listing.

I’ve never written a song that hasn’t changed after playing it live, so this makes total sense & is a really cool thing for them to do.

I think it’s also pretty obvious (if what they’re saying is 100% true) that this record is quite a ways off.

We need to get a chorus.fm only show for all our production experts. I think it’d be super helpful for the band. Just think of all that fucking thanks!

They actually are doing this, they sent out an email shortly after I got my tickets saying they’re using that Yondr thing.
Prob a good move. I would be way too tempted to record the whole thing otherwise lol

    Title Track

This is a really cool idea. I think in the advent of mobile phone recording a lot of artists feel apprehensive to 'road test' new stuff but I think it's important because you know which elements work and which don't work.
