the rollout for this album has been strange.

i love the songs, but they don't seem like the normal 'banger' singles that get people really excited about an album.

Looks like he's posting clips from each song, at least the first two so far

  7. NSYNC feature. Nice! Hopefully it's better than the Trolls song.

  8. You'll probably need to click on that in order to see it, but it's Lance Bass talking about "Paradise"

Yeah, this is no 20/20 level hype that's for sure, possibly not even Man of the Woods.

People do not like Justin Timberlake anymore. This album is going to get annihilated in the discourse.

I'm actually surprised to learn that, because I have been getting three emails a week from the Michigan venue he's playing begging me to buy tickets. From the looks of it, there are still dozens or hundreds of tickets available in every single section of the arena for that date. I think Morgan Wallen sold out that same arena in 10 minutes.

Might be your area of Michigan but he’s playing multiple nights in a lot of cities and keeps adding dates every other week it feels like.

Morgan Wallen has been selling out stadiums so that’s not shocking

Fair enough on Wallen, but Chris Stapleton has also sold out this venue in a matter of hours, and it was a JT assist that skyrocketed him to fame nine years ago. Just feels like there's no air in the tire for this Timberlake album. I'd be surprised if it does half the first week numbers of Man of the Woods.

Chris Stapleton ALSO sells out stadiums too haha.

but no, I understand the sentiment on the album not having any hype. Selfish had a little steam for a week or so it seemed then went away. It’ll break 100K definitely but how much more… idk. He is pretty much a legacy act at this point which is why his tour is doing pretty good so far

Is there a single pop act over 35 (besides Beyonce) that hasn’t become a legacy act? The days of pop stars in their late 30s still charting #1 singles that have pop culture relevance seem to be over.

Stapleton really only does stadiums when it’s a co-headline situation, like his current tour with George Strait. And Justin used to do stadiums too! Think back to that Jay-Z tour.

if you count hip hop yeah Drake is still charting, are the songs good no but they chart

if not um Taylor in a few years lol, and I would say Kesha and Carly Rae Jepsen don't count exactly they're not charting but still making interesting work

very true, hes a little bit more funk/soul influenced though.

Bruno Mars is also a complete standalone thing when it comes to pop music. He is completely out of the public eye, no one even thinks about him when he isn't releasing an album, just keeps a totally private life. Then when he is ready to release new music, its only 10 songs or less every few years, with no b sides or EPs, just the absolute cream of the crop, then goes into hiding again. It's impressive he can do it, but he's not really a good popstar to use as a comparison for like, anything

He hasn't released anything solo in quite some time. 8 years or something?
