I will see it when Nolan shows it in theaters in more than five cities during a less-COVID-y time. These are my conditions.

Other than that, I’m happy when movies let Elizabeth Debicki be tall.

If Tenet is the worst movie you’ve seen in a while you’ve missed a whole lot of bad movies

    Great movie

  12. The last Nolan I've seen is Interstellar but maybe because I've just been more interested in horror lately. He was one of my favorite filmmakers growing up, so I doubt Tenet and Oppenheimer are bad, I just think the latter should've had more poc rep, but again, I haven't seen it

Oh I did see Dunkirk, I thought it was boring

I mean it was a true story about building the atomic bomb, not sure what he could have done about that?

They want a completely different movie which is fine and valid but that wasn’t the story Nolan was telling with Oppenheimer

The point of Oppenheimer is that it holds so close to Oppenheimer’s obsessive pursuit of science coupled with America’s pursuit of the weapon, precisely without anyone involved considering or encountering the people it would affect. Scenes like where the one military higher up says they should take Kyoto off the list of potential targets because he and his wife vacationed there shows the callousness and shallowness with which they treated the violence they were about to commit.

If one is interested on the Japanese perspective of the bomb through cinema, there’s a rich history of Japanese cinema about it. I’d recommend Imamura’s Black Rain, an astounding work of humanism.

If I could just forget it

I'm sympathetic to the idea of holding him accountable for pushing its use on people. I wish that had been in the film, along with Teller's opposition to it.

I have no idea why a biopic about Oppenheimer would center POC voices

Nolan definitely isn't with fault, Dunkirk having no female characters was gross and a lot of his female characters are poorly written, but Oppenheimer didn't need to be more traumatic
