alright alright i'm back on Bloodborne.
still suffering against Father Gascoigne. got him down to a small percent of his health tho

having the healing items be a limited resource that you have to buy is still a dumb fucking decision imo
makes it very frustrating every time i lose and use up my vials then i have NO healing if i wanna challenge a boss again.
makes me wanna stop playing (basically why i quit last time) i don't wanna fucking grind low enemies just to get some echoes

    Have you tried getting gud?

(But seriously, when you get the hang of it you’ll rarely find yourself low on blood vials. I usually have hundreds stocked back in the workshop)

  5. Just beat Shadow of Yarnham and that was definitely a step up. As someone who’s not a fan of snakes, fuck that whole area.

I'm being walled by Shadows of Yharnam on my current run

  7. Couldn’t pull myself away from Bloodborne this week and beat it earlier today. My total playtime was around 35 hours. I fought all of the bosses except for Paarl and those in the DLC and chalice dungeons. When I get the urge for another play through, I’ll be sure to seek them out.

I think one of the best things I can say is that it feels timeless. It’s almost 10 years old and doesn’t really show its age, which is a testament the both the art and game design. The 30 fps didn’t bother me as much as I thought it would and the load times, something I saw complaints about, are a non issue on the PS5.

At some point I’ll give the Dark Souls trilogy a try but I don’t know if I can handle Sekiro. I’ve heard the combat described as almost rhythm-like, and I’m awful at all rhythm games. If I find it super cheap, I may give it a go but it’s not a priority.

I honestly felt like Bloodborne's age showed a lot when I played it. I agree about the 30 FPS and the load times being fine, those weren't complaints of mine at all, and 100% agree the art style is amazing. But things like the leveling, having to go back home to fast travel anywhere, emotes accidentally going off no matter what you did, etc. annoyed me beyond belief

Still an amazing game but yeah, I think there are a lot of cracks that show

The chalice dungeons are a lot of fun. Especially the randomized Root Chalices, I've found some pretty whacky ones (like one where every single enemy was a summoning witch, one that had no enemies at all). They also different variations of weapons and gems. I'll just throw on a podcast and dungeon crawl for a couple hours

  11. Good point about the fast travel. I think I was more annoyed that I couldn't just "rest" at the lamps to refill my vials/bullets from storage but going back to the hub just to travel to another area was annoying. The leveling didn't feel dated to me but I may have less to compare it to.

Yeah I agree about the resting aspect as well, really that may be the most annoying thing. With leveling I mean moreso compared to something like Elden Ring/Sekiro where you can "level" at any grace/shrine vs Bloodborne/DS3/Lies of P even for most of the game where you have to go back to the hub to do it, just feels tedious

Sorry I loaded up Bloodborne a couple days ago for the first time in a while so this is fresh on my mind haha

  14. I suppose they could have chosen to restrict those things to the Hunter's Dream for story reasons. The hunters are projected into the awakened world from the dream and your projected state simply doesn't have access to the stuff in the Hunter's Dream. Feels like a bit of a cop-out but I could see that being a reason.

With the leveling I think it's mechanical reasons more than story reasons because of the Insight mechanic (which is one of my favorite ideas in gaming and I wish I saw it around more in these types of games), since you have to have it to "awaken" the doll or whatever

With traveling yeah I definitely think they're using story reasons as a copout

I started a new Sekiro game after years of not playing, and it’s really easy? Like, I think something is wrong with the game. I used to struggle big time but I’m beating bosses without even healing. I feel like I’m breaking posture really fast and I’m confused

I’m admittedly really bad at the game, which is why I’m confused. I dunno if they patched it since I last played or it’s a bug, or maybe Elden Ring trained me for this

I started Sekiro after beating Elden Ring and had a really tough time to the point where I put it down and haven’t played it since last February. I’ve been wanting to pick it up again though, curious if it’ll click a bit more this time.

I think it was around Lady Butterfly when it started to click for me. One of the best gaming experiences ever. Genichiro is one of the longest times I’ve ever spent on a boss. Such a wall for me.

It took a while for Sekiro to really truly come natural me, and its now my fav game of all time. There was a long time things felt better and better but it was prob after like 60 hours between playing, quitting and then replaying by starting over until I really felt great about it.

I need Sekiro 2 so bad.

Like I’m killing normal enemies in 2-3 hits and I don’t remember that being the case. I broke Gyobu’s posture in like 6.

I used a trainer a while ago to fuck around, I deleted it back then and started a new character but I feel like I still have cheats on but I don’t know how that would be possible
