    Maybe so, maybe not.

My internal dialogue during this movie was basically just “damn, that shot already feels iconic” every 10 minutes.

Shrooms (and the steak dinner before) were beating my ass the first 20 minutes but settled in to an absolute ride for the ages quickly.

Some of my gripes are tangible and real—Walken casting being distracting, some odd pacing and flow in the middle—but when you take them in the context of the awe-inspiring scale and immersive world this puts you in, they don’t really matter much, do they? That first time Paul gets on the worm and that Zimmer score was shaking my seat I could only muster a “Jesus fuck” under my breath as we went to the next scene. Just a big, stupid grin on my face, thoroughly content in my realization that I was seated and experiencing something generational.

The sheer size of some of these scenes, just oh man. It’s not just selling the reality of this world, it’s making you feel, deeply, just how massive the entire thing is. The ability to seamlessly blend the sensibilities of a blockbuster crowd pleaser with something deeper, dark, and philosophical is just an absolute gift to all of us.

I look forward to seeing this again.

Reminds me of my favorite Radiohead song.

"You dune it to yourself, you dune, and that's what really hurts..."

this is funny because I've been sick as hell and was laying in bed yesterday with a 102.4 fever watching Dune YouTube videos, including that star one you posted, and probably ended up watching more than 7 hours of them altogether

Rewatched Dune 1 today and I'm absolutely wondering why Warner Bros. hasn't had Traveller's Tales make Lego Dune.

I'm probably alone on this one but I wasn't really into stilgar being comic relief one minute and then demanding to be sacrificed the next. Bardem pulls it off because I mean, Bardem. He was just such a blunt serious guy in part one, I found the jokes a bit off putting.

That's it, that's my biggest complaint.

Ok I really liked it, just was confused with the tone with Chani and Paul at the end. Felt weird that he really abandoned her (as well as his immediate abandonment of the Fremen). I thought the book was a bit different.

I enjoyed Part One, but this blew me away. My girl, Chani. Love everything about the direction Denis chose to take her character.
