    RIP Supporter

The tamer keeps the opponent sort of vertical and he puts his knee in their back/neck vs the walls where he sits back like a sharpshooter or Texas cloverleaf

so when tk said meat madness got scrapped by injuries what did he mean? i don't notice any other adjustments to the card and all three guys are still working.

whoever Jericho was working probably got hurt and they couldn't just throw him into a match called meat madness

a very weird way to handle it imo especially when the replacement match has other guys people wanted in the original one. just say "we heard you" he loves that shit

  8. Last minute match thrown-in + last minute change to the last minute match is a sloppy look. But I don’t mind it tbh. A “flaw” of Tony’s is that he’s too much of a fan and that’s likely what leads to situations like this. It feels like TK just trying to appease the fans and give them more, more, more. But sometimes it makes him look silly.

Plus, the rest of the card was built very well over a couple months.

i agree with all that, just funny to issue a memo couched in apologetic tone for match that existed for like 12 hours and seemed to garner 5 mins of apathy lol

i think why it all bugs me is AEW loves to work injuries or have guys work through real ones, but they have worst-in-class injury protocol from how it's handled in the moment to how guarded they are about the person's condition after (unless they're cleared). the same dude was inches from being involved with the death of both Hardys three years apart in throwaway segments, and the Rampage match wasn't thrown out either.

I thought Joe and Swerve were really good last night. Same goes for the Stat/Blue match and Sting's rafter drop. The rest was kind of a downer for me. Again, it's hard for me to get invested in Sting a whole lot when he's tied at the hip to Darby Allin and Ric Flair. Just leaves a sour taste.

I also thought they Hangman thing was contrived for the sake of attempting a swerve. It just felt like a confluence of too many variables had to align to give Page his moment to reveal that he's a dirtbag. They got too cute. Having Swerve bring up the fact that he literally broke in to Page's house was a miss, too. It made Page sort of justified in his attack. There's been too much of that stuff in this story with them in recent weeks.

I loved when Tony called them the safest promotion in the world or whatever, and people ate it up even though JON MOXLEY of all people had literally just blasted their protocols a few weeks prior for allowing him to work an entire match with a visible concussion.

If Moxley is the dude who's like, "hey, this ain't safe!" you probably have an issue.

the hangman injury was bc he has a personal matter and they werent sure if he would make the ppv so they built it in

ngl i find it weird to be so against darby bc of what one person said but you seem to still watch wwe with all that went on over decades there

Not sure what your point is there, I think it's pertinent to point out not-so-great people in both companies, especially those who continue to get free passes. I'd say the same thing about him if he were in WWE, the way I did Riddle and countless others.

i didnt recall seeing a post about finding it hard to watch the elimination chamber bc of randy orton is all or just watch the company that has decades of sexual abuse among others things but to each their own just seemed to come across as selective

Randy Orton wasn't accused of rape, but I've been plenty critical of him, too.

I also didn't say it was hard to watch. I said it was hard to be fully invested in a legacy act who's ENTIRE run in the company has been tied exclusively to one problematic star. There's a big difference there, and I'm sure you know that.

  18. I wasn’t a fan of the Hangman “injury” thing last night. It wasn’t necessary. I get planning some sort of out for Hangman if he ended up not being able to make it. But doing the fake backing out story was kinda lame. It just didn’t hit for me.

But the match is going to be awesome. Cannot wait for it.

Yeah - I have no issue with them planting the fake injury in case he needed an out, that's no big deal. It was just the execution of the swerve that irked me. It was really clunky.

We all know the wrestling industry is a cess pool. There’s no reason to make it a competition over who hires the most disgusting people and people shouldn’t have to defend their opinions when talking about how it’s hard to watch certain performers.

Also, I bring up Allin specifically because I realize there may be people who straight up don't know anything about it. Unless you were following Speaking Out in 2020, or heard his interview with Jericho (which was also abhorrent, and straight from his own mouth), he's been lucky to pretty much never hear a peep except from the deepest corners of wrestling Twitter and Reddit, and most of those posts just get eviscerated to oblivion by the worst kinds of "stan" accounts.

Having complicated relationships with, and needing a great deal of nuance to navigate the (as @koryoreo wisely put it) cesspool that is the wrestling industry is kind of something I expect comes with the territory.

Most of my favorite wrestlers from childhood are pieces of shit.
