I will say, Grimace. I went to Robinson Cinemark last night and got a print ticket in person from the melancholy-looking person at the counter.

After like 15 years of not really being able to get into Community, I just started another binging attempt on it and

 

Six seasons and a movie (after Dan Harmon finishes the script for the 20th time)

 

I remember liking it when it aired but tried rewatching it last summer and stopped half way through the first season.

 

Some of the jokes have not aged well and are very late 2000's cringe, but there is a lot of 30 Rock tier joke writing in there that had me cracking up.

 

Not to open this can of worms again, but is this still an issue everyone has? I remember it being terrible like 8-10 years ago, but I can't remember the last time I noticed it, and I just have the shitty Vizio 5.1 soundbar.

 

If I turn up the volume enough to hear the dialogue the way I want, it is unbearable when something loud happens, especially in an apartment at night.

 

We should remove all audio from movies and TV.

 

Isn’t every Nolan film criticized for the sound mix? Pretty sure people even complained about Oppenheimer and I don’t think it was even actually a problem

 

I watch on studio monitors, I prefer subtitles for everything regardless of the era of movie or quality of mix

Yeah, I'm just wondering if it's an actual mixing issue or people's home setups, because I absolutely remember the issue of dialogue being low and then an explosion being insanely loud. I just haven't had that issue in years and years regardless of the era of whatever it is I'm watching, and I do not have a high dollar setup in the least.

Just interested in what's changed on my end since then, or if the issues been fixed in home hardware and people are just used to subtitles now and stick with it, even if the reason they started using them is no longer an issue. I know I came in hot last time and was like 90% kidding about it being an something I hate, it's more just a fascinating trend that might be indicative of some sort of larger social trend.

 

I wonder if movie streaming services are slapping on a compression/loudness algorithm like Spotify does or they require a new mix to be submitted

 

I mean my set up is like 10 years old but it’s surround sound and I definitely still have issues with stuff. But I guess it could just be my set up since 10 years actually probably is old for tech.

I know it’s not the same thing but fuck Hulu live. If your volume is at 25, the ads on Hulu are at like 55.

 

Haha, I had Sling for a while and they had this same issue, even between different ads it would still vary wildly.
