I thought the premiere was fantastic. Better than Dead City and Dixon.

I had started to get a little worried during the lead up that I was getting too excited about it and that it wouldn't be very good, but it actually exceeded my expectations and I'm hoping they can keep it up across all 6 episodes.

Yeah usually when I watch these shows I'm on my phone or doing something else at the same time but I was captivated for the whole time. Great start.

I only watched TWD, do I need to watch the spin offs or no?

No, they do a really good job of giving you the highlights of anything you may have missed. I would think that even someone who stopped watching after Rick or Michonne left would be fine with it.

There are a couple things in the first episode that if you had watched World Beyond you would catch, one of them will probably be said explicitly at some point and the other is just a fun little, "oh, okay" moment (the son of Terry O'Quinn's character is in World Beyond). After one episode I would say that it is neither necessary, nor worth your time to watch World Beyond and Fear/Dead City/Dixon don't tie in at all

6 in all. They originally claimed it would be 6 and done, but then I heard they were leaving the door open for a season 2 (or what I've always assumed is that they would at some point tie all the spin offs together into a final mini series that would essentially be TWD season 12)

Edit: I'm not sure if that's ever officially been floated as an idea, but I'll go on record saying that I see absolutely no scenario where there is never a reunion between Rick and his kids and also Rick and Daryl

Interesting...IMDB currently has it listed as only 3 episodes.

Also, years ago, wasn't it originally supposed to be 3 films? And then it was later changed to a limited series?

(I stopped paying attention to this stuff a LONG time ago)

I'm not sure, I checked out after season 7 or 8 of the original series before Rick even left. I got an itch to go back through it after talking about the finale with some family members and then when I heard about the spin offs, I decided to start from the beginning and went through everything again.

I think binging it all does a lot of favors for a show like this rather than watching week to week. I enjoyed even the later seasons a lot more than most people did, I think.

I think I did read that there was a movie or movies planned at some point for Rick, but then they changed it to the series.

Tuned in for the season opener, seems like a step up in quality from the other spin offs.

Looking forward to seeing what happens from here, didn’t expect a reunion so quickly

I was thinking they might drag it out as well, but glad they didn’t. That being said, I imagine next week we really won’t see them together much again. It’ll likely be Michonne’s journey and will either start with them together and her telling her side or will just be the same ending from the opposite side.

I’m so glad we’re back in it with Rick. It was too long of a wait. So glad. I feel like this is basically going to be 3 movies in length or more anyway. Film and effect quality is a major step up as well. Almost like El Camino to Breaking Bad.

Saaaame. I was totally expecting it to drag out the reunion until halfway or something. So I was def impressed they did it at the end of this episode. Overall I really enjoyed this premiere. More than the other 2 spinoffs we've gotten recently. It's good to see Rick back!

I enjoyed a lot of it, but it wasn't as good as the first. Was surprised that they killed off all of Michonne's new friends and they're obviously trying to set up some tension between Rick and Michonne, which I think would probably be natural after a decade apart or however long. Really liked the ending and have no idea how they plan to wrap it up in 4 episodes. Still very excited to see how it plays out, but do worry that it may either feel rushed or won't have all the resolutions I'd like by the end

Yeah another very good episode that did feel rushed at times.

Was not expecting that ending there. Wonder what her angle is. Didn’t even realize that it would present a problem for them leaving until she said it.

I wondered if there was a chance that Rick and Michonne’s reunion does not end up being all rosy?

I felt like Rick had already been threatened prior to Michonne coming and now he seemed hellbent on keeping her with him for the safety of everyone else

Based on comments from the actors, I suspect that it won’t end poorly for them. And I think the whole situation that is brought up at the end of the episode with Jadis is going to bring back the old days and we’ll see Rick and Michonne vs the world

For those who haven’t seen World Beyond, and since idk if they’ll cover it in this series, Jadis is only a part of CRM because she gave them Rick. Her “gift” to Rick was that she classified him as a B rather than an A to save his life, so I wonder if she sees it as a threat to her existence in the CRM in some way. She also has no qualms about using other people’s shortcomings to move up the ranks. She threw the woman who trained her under the bus (and killed her) in WB and had her mother (who was a top ranking CRM member) arrested.

Amazing episode. Both episodes so far have made for great TV. It's sooooo good that these characters are back!

2 was definitely the weakest of the bunch so far, but I still liked it well enough.

I love the parallels they've set up so far; Michonne acting just like Rick killing the walkers at the wall. And you can't tell me they didn't have the actress playing Thorne watch the scene where Shane draws down on Rick before her doing it to Michonne. Rick is going to have to kill her by the end of this. And I can't decide which way to go with Jadis. She's seemingly going to need to die, but she has already made a comment about really liking some of the Alexandria group (mostly Gabriel, obviously), so there's always a shot that she ends up back there with them at some point, which would be interesting since a LOT has happened to him since she left. Also, Michonne's "notes" to Judith in these episodes has me convinced that we will actually get the reunion by the end of episode 6, OR it's getting a season 2. I don't see a third option that doesn't devastate a very large portion of the fan base..

I'm seriously so excited to see how it all plays out.
