Sad Summer had a St. Paul, MN date during that first year, which was one of my favorite shows I'd ever been to. Every year since that however, they've skipped MN in favor of Milwaukee, WI. Whack.

Yeah I definitely think its all for the optics. Both the scenery of the venue and also the positive press of "hey look we sold out NYC so fast!"
Forest Hills, while probably too big with a 13k capacity, would probably cost the same amount to book as it would a Live Nation owned Manhattan rooftop with skyline views. Other options could be Central Park Summerstage (5,500 cap) or Prospect Park Bandshell (6k cap).

I can’t imagine it’s just a coincidence the Neck Deep US tour wraps this weekend…

Strange that it doesnt book that many shows anymore, but they did just do a total renovation to it a few years ago. Major appeal to me is the bleacher section in the back.

I've gone to Philly 3 times & NYC once, Pier 17 is absolutely abysmal for Sad Summer. Brooklyn Mirage would also be a cool spot for it

The Pearl Jam subreddit appears to have been out of the game. People complaining that they turned down $150 tickets which are now listed at $800 + on resale.

Can't speak for every show there but the two I went to last year, those new bleachers/seating areas compress the crowd much more so it feels much more packed. If you get there early you're fine but trying to move around is a bit of a pain. Not to mention there are only like 30-40 portable toilets for 5500 people.

FWIW, that Boston show's already sold out at the Boston venue. That's a move from a 5k venue to a 2.5k venue so I think it's fair to say they overshot demand by about 50%. LOL

EDIT: Plus, the opener feels kinda weak too? They could have done better for themselves with a co-headliner probably.

Yeah I think they really overestimated how many people would be interested in this tour. Like, it is cool that they’re touring for the first time in almost 30 years and whatnot, but from an audience standpoint, it’s waned a bit since they split up in the 90’s. Sure, Pets was a big hit, but P4P didn’t really leave a huge mark or impression on the decade other than that. Really, the only people interested in this tour are just Jane’s Addiction nerds.

Plus, pricing (in my opinion) was pretty rough. Tickets for the Santa Ana show were $86 before fees and I think $90-ish before fees in LA. I hate that ended up missing that show, but the price didn’t really justify it for me. I thought it was too much for an act like them.

I’m seeing Zulu tonight and my friend decided to buy from the venue and it cost $39 with fees and stuff

I bought it online and it was only like $31 with fees

Thank god the Sacramento show is at Harlows. They have box office hours for no fees AND they give you physical tickets.

There are still some great venues out there, folks.

I saw Lucy Dacus there in July 2022 and you are very right. I went as far back as I could in the crowd to navigate towards the bathrooms and I had to push through even the people who were pushed up against the back barricade. And I don’t even know if that was sold out.

But my friend who was VIP in the bleachers snatched me a free drink so it worked out.

Ethel Cain there in June should be interesting.

That’s sad the Porno for Pyros tour isn’t selling better. Perry is a really interesting live performer, his vocals can be bizarre and uneven but it’s never boring.
