monster of the week or mythology?

 

I asked him the same question a couple weeks ago lol

What’s the general consensus? Mythology or monster of the week? I enjoy both but the mythology episodes are usually better.

 

Monster of the week for me. That’s my favorite format for 90s shows.

 

It's a debate as old as time. The mythology gets convoluted as it goes on, but is still fun. I think in general the MOTW has more all-time great episodes. All my favorites are MOTW.

 

I do enjoy both and like that they mix it up. There was a stretch there in season 2 that was like 3-4 monster of the week episodes in a row which got annoying but then they hit me with colony and end game.

 

Mythology always. I started rewatching the show because of it coming up in here while doing my freelance stuff in the evenings. So many bangers right off the bat.

 

Mythology

 

My dad was a die hard X-Files fan growing up, and we were a Monster of the Week household for sure.

 

If I didn’t watch the whole series in order, I would be totally lost just catching reruns on tv.

 

I am split. the early mythology is fun but it got worse and worse over the years.

 

My dad had 2x20 Humbug taped on VHS and would rewatch it all the time.

Also I always like that MOTW episode where Scully falls for the guy with an evil sentient tattoo

 

Mulder definitely gives to calico cut pants

 

I love when they get silly and gimmicky, Postmodern Prometheus, Bad Blood, and X-Cops are hard to beat for me.

I was too young to really get or appreciate X-files when it aired. Although I did see some episodes growing up. I’ve also seen the movies.

I did start to watch it like a decade ago when it was on Netflix and got to s3 I think. Then I fell off and it left Netflix and I haven’t gone back. I feel like I’d need to start at the beginning again. One day.

 

I used to watch random episodes with my ex. Loved the mythology stuff. We watched a lot of it, but I attribute the show with her now. Maybe that’s weird? I still have love for the show but I’m not sure I could watch it the same way anymore. Maybe I could if I just started again, but I don’t really have an interest. Anyway.
