1st party titles across the board this year are gonna be weak, thankfully 2nd/3rd party will pick up the slack

Maybe the PS6 is coming sooner than expected?

 

I think they just failed to meet expectations for holiday sales. But whatever gets them to get games on PC day one works for me

 

PC is going to make home console exclusives obsolete outside of the stuff Nintendo releases (which I'm fine with. PC + Switch combo)

If they or Microsoft for that matter put out new consoles anytime tome soon people should riot. How about actually putting out new, current-gen exclusive games at a solid pace instead.

 

Whole game industry needs a reset. People get mad there aren’t exclusive first party games. Then they get mad there are exclusives. Then they get mad they take too long. But then they’re made because they crunch to get them out sooner.

it’s just completely unsustainable right now.

 

…and a new console will solve all problems.

Sounds less like an industry problem and more a "people are impossible to please" problem.

My take? There are enough games being made now on a regular basis for so many platforms that gamers can afford to wait for them to be done so Bob and Alice can have a life and good health.

This. Now if you are strictly a AAA gamer (whatever that means these days) then I get it but there are great games coming out daily.

Also, AAA games tend to be buggy messes at launch. But it is nice when they are released on a service like GamePass. Helldivers is a great example.

 

AAA games are not a sustainable model.

Sony and Xbox should both extend the current gen hardware already out and focus on more major titles. This gen had a slow start because of covid and the chip shortage so sticking to a 6-7 year plan should be extended. Just release the next hardware in 2030.

 

I mean, yes, but financially, corporations aren’t going to want that, so it does become an industry problem when they need to rush games out the door from their studios to create profit and create reasons for their consoles to be the one to buy because of exclusives.
