it's also entirely fine to be turned off by the corniness/playfulness; it's the pretending it isn't an inherent part of her artistry that's weird.

 

It is incredibly planned and calculated for her to have these moments of silliness and camp.

 

Whatever amount of camp she has is obviously working incredibly well and even got her a song with Post who is like the most serious modern musician. Good for her.

Do you really want me to list all the instances of humor or sarcasm or self-flagellation in her lyrics? Because there are a lot of them. Two of her biggest hits ever, “Blank Space” and “Anti-Hero,” are packed with the same tongue-in-cheek vibe I’m getting from these titles. It’s not really out of character at all if you have any knowledge of her actual music, but it sounds like maybe your knowledge stops at her public exploits and image? Which is fine! But it’s a little weird to make grand statements about an artist you clearly don’t have a full understanding of.

This kind of sucks, but I think I get it? The ManOrch thread is fine to me, but I do find that I like music more when I have a community to talk to about it. Feel like it's my own weird parasocial thing, because I'm sure tons of people out there love songs and don't feel the need to talk to others on the internet about them.

I'm loving how spicy this thread is while the Swifts continue to put together completely batshit theories.

 

My longstanding opinion is nobody really dislikes Taylor the person and they just associate the absolute mental part of her fanbase to be the majority of her fanbase.

 

No people definitely dislike her. Apparently some internet opinions on the Grammys called her selfish for using her acceptance speech to announce her new album instead of using the time to thank the team behind Midnights.

 

Plenty of people dislike her.

A completely futile effort, but honestly perplexed as to how my setlist updates, news updates, photos from shows, art and vinyl pictures, and links to YouTube videos ruin a thread that is 90% jokes about thanking the band and eating shoes due to another user being a weirdo or the remaining 10% posts of users dropping into say the band sucks now and should go back to making louder music.

But to each their own! Hope one day you can enjoy the band again and not allow my once every couple months posts weigh you down so much

 

Song titles here are definitely corny as hell, but Taylor Swift is often corny as hell so it tracks.

2) Song titles

Things that always impact my enjoyment:

1) Whether the songs are good
