apparently the bonus track on the leaked version was called The Bolter. wondering if that was just a placeholder title, another bonus track, or something else entirely. *insert shrug emoji here*

 

Ok I'll bite: I think the difference is Panic and Fall Out Boy are constantly referencing and poking fun at themselves. Their song titles are bonkers and they know it. Taylor is ultra serious about everything so it comes across way different.

Ultra serious? have you seen any of her videos? Or weird ass random inserts into songs.

 

You can't take one song and use it to discuss a general image of someone; by that token, The 1975 is a screamo band because of "People". I don't think it's dishonest to say that Taylor's image is ultra constructed. She's meticulous. Her fans deeply and seriously relate to her lyrics and songwriting, in a nearly parasocial way, and we can call that a strength of hers. But she is also the most visible and constantly in the spotlight artist of the modern era, probably in decades. She is re-releasing every old album. She's winning awards and at the podium announcing new albums. She's dating the biggest TE in the NFL attached to probably the greatest ever QB. So she gets a bigger spotlight. At there is a clash between her image and these song titles, which I think is what everyone is responding to.

suffering from Taylor Swift fatigue - and there's just something about the world's most popular female pop artist releasing an album called the tortured poet's department that strikes a particularly jaded chord

happy for her though

 

she ends every night of her world-conquering tour with a song that has the lyric "karma is a cat purring in my lap 'cause it loves me. flexing like a goddamn acrobat, me and karma vibe like that."

 

lol ok. I know I’m extremely biased but MO has the least dumb song titles amongst their peers. (BN,TBS, mwY, dcfc, bright eyes, etc.)
