When she announced it she said it’s been a secret for 2 years

 

It’s become pretty clear that she’s one of this generation’s most prolific songwriters. I’d guess she just spent the majority of the Covid lockdown writing. She didn’t tour at all for Lover, Folklore or Evermore either so that’s 5 albums in 5 years since her last major tour before Eras.

 

I don't mind midnights and for most artists it'd be a tight album but it's a mid taylor album so I hope this one is something I come back to as I don't rly revist midnights much rn

 

Idk I feel like she’s generally been incredibly famous since like 2008? Her run of fame/dominance in popular music has pretty much no precedent, it’s been like what like 16 years of being one of if not the most famous musician? Wild

 

I doubt she's had the album ready to go for two years. More likely she planned to announce a new one during her 13th grammy announcement which she knew would be now.

 

Kind of wild to win grammys so frequently that u plan around receiving them

My assumption is that she at least recorded the bulk of it (if not the whole thing) before the Eras tour started at least. But who knows.

Cynical take is this will Midnights 2.0 and will be themes already explored on other albums. Probably ideas/concepts that never got truly developed. But I’ll be happy to be wrong.
