Although the likelihood of Roman losing the title on a random Smackdown seems stronger than having him fly 20+ hours each way to Australia. I’d be shocked if he’s at EC since he seems to have a reduced PPV schedule and it’s mainly only the big ones.

What is they swerve now due to reactions and have Cody/Roman at Mania with The Rock as ref/enforcer. Jimmy and Solo try to get involved and Rock Bottom to both and Cody picks up a win. Clean too cause Rock only eliminated the outside interference and not match. Fans and Philly happy with Babyface Cody and Rock. Now the turmoil of watching Bloodline collapse and Rock vs Roman at SS with no title then.

i think this is the dour future of WWE - a push and pull between a few key players at the top of Endeavor as a parent, TKO, WWE, and investors. the central, final seal of approval is now in no one specific's hands like it has been for all of company history. it will create more backstage accountability in terms of employee treatment, but it will introduce politicking back into the main event scene that we haven't scene since WCW 2000. a member of the board of directors just swiped Cody's main event and might even write himself in to win it. if that's not inmates running the asylum, idk lol

 

There’s nothing about winning the rumble that guarantees you an any time title shot like MITB. So he’d have no power to just retcon that in kayfabe. He gets to challenge for a title at WM and he just openly said it’s not Roman.

I mean, this would work, but it’s still a B- ending to a story that could have had an A with Cody just winning clean.

They can’t undo Cody looking like a joke; and he’s still over enough the fan base would be fine if they swerved back to the original plan, but the damage is done.

 

Also, lol, they cut out Codys sad walk away from the segment. They are already in “that wacky crowd boos people they like” mode

you could prolly salvage it by having cody/seth and rock/roman night 1 and having the winners face each other night 2 to unify the titles, but they won't do that. they're more likely to squeeze cody in to make it a 3 way, which funnily would just ruin both stories.

 

Gonna be hilarious when they also book a worse outcome than WM39

Feel like with each passing hour the Rock, WWE creative, and the character of Cody look worse and worse and dumber and dumber.

I get these are totally different types of characters but imagine (ironically enough) Stone Cold gets screwed out the title at Mania against the Rock due to interference. Fights his way for a YEAR to get a rematch, wins the Royal Rumble match and then… gives the Mania match away to idk Kevin Nash or Jimmy Snuka or some shit (pick someone who had been almost entirely gone for a long time).

Or the Rock, after getting screwed by Austin and McMahon at Mania, fights for a rematch all year, wins the Rumble and then… gives his match away to Kane or whoever.

It’s just so comically stupid lol
