I think there's a very real chance that TKO cleans house of WWE. HHH is absolutely implicated in the lawsuit, there's surely a few big name wrestlers still at WWE that are implicated (and I'd be shocked if there arent a few AEW guys as well). HHH pissed down his leg in that press conference...not hard to see how this time next year there's not an entirely new creative team, the Rock as the figure head, etc.

 

Yeah, that’s what it honestly feels like. They know HHH is going to come up in some of this and the Rock is going to waltz in and install his own people

 

Another parallel to those mid-2010s...the dude that was actually over (Seth) spent how long working sideshow angles instead of being THE guy? And he was red hot the entire time just like Cody is.

Meanwhile, one of these dudes is gonna be the Dean Ambrose and leave; they just had AJ and Randy do big returns for no real reason, LA Knight is floundering around, and even Drew McIntyre is having the run of his lifetime go to waste.

Feel genuinely awful for Cody in all of this. Dude did literally everything he could humanly do to be THE guy...and keeps getting screwed. Building AEW. The move to WWE. That torn pec HIAC match. Winning the rumble + main eventing WM. Still being red hot after that loss and somehow even more over coming into this WM

So was Rock willing to take a back seat, thinking Punk and Brock would be big enough draws, but then them out felt they needed something bigger than Cody?

Or was this planned from even before the Rumble? Because Rock winning the Rumble would've probably made some people upset but feels like this way of getting the match just makes everyone mad and while I can see what they were going for giving Cody another rumble win... definitely feels like a misfire

 

If Punk didn't get injured and Rock pulled something like this that fucked his Mania plans, I am pretty sure we would have another Punk walkout on our hands.

 

Sounds like Vince getting blown up the week of the Rumble + Brock being implicated, plus Punk being hurt, meant they had to shift things. Even if they wanted to switch to Plan B after the Vince stuff, no way they had time to rewrite the Rumble + WM plans + The Rock was ready to go 15-20mins in a match.

Just embarrassing all the way around when they had so many options (and, as others pointed out, they're not hurting to move tickets)

 

Still do Roman/Cody. Run EC for the #1 contendership (and do AJ, Randy, LA, etc in there) for Rollins' title. Let Bayley main event Night 1.

No reason to switch up plans when they had a damn good WM lined up already.

 

If HHH doesn’t end up being implicated then I wonder how long he bothers to stick around if Endeavor starts changing creative around with some of The Rocks buddies.

Rocks been buddy buddy with Ari and even Dana White for a long time. HHH didn’t have that relationship prior to the acquisition

 

Can Cody use his RR title shot to challenge Priest for the MITB briefcase? That could provide a loophole to kinda give all parties what they want here.

 

If they claim the rules work that way, they can claim the rules let Cody cash in his RR title shot early in Perth. Think that would go over much better with the fans, especially if they don't want people shitting on the Roman/Rocky match.

 

fwiw, at the end of the PWI article they mentioned it's been tossed around by some for Cody to beat Rollins and then unify the belt at Summerslam

Fightful says Rock was pushing for this even prior to the lawsuit news and that people within the company said he wasn't just pushing for the Roman match but he's also pushing to win the match

 

Rock's gonna be gassed like 10 minutes into the match. Go and film Jungle Cruise 2 or something

It’s a shame all this shit has overshadowed Bayley’s choice yesterday. The “I can understand Japanese” bit was predicted by many, but yet it worked so well.
