    Regular Prestigious

I’m on book 9 of He Who Fights with Monsters and it’s been a fun read for the most part. The world and powers are interesting, the dialogue is fun, and the plot has been good.

I think it would have been better served with some heavier editing (I can see the bones of this being a serial web novel). There are paragraphs where it’s basically the same thing phrased in three different ways. It also feels like there’s a lot of repeated information.

I’d still recommend it if someone’s looking for a LitRPG series. Just be aware that it can get bogged down a little in some places.

I'm glad I just happened to watch this movie again recently and know exactly what he's referring to.

Something funny DCC Book 5 (early) I've been wondering, as Donut becomes more and more bloodthirsty, if there would be a rift between the two. Of course, anytime she's gone a little crazy and Carl was worried about her, he ended up being wrong and she's shown way more empathy than she let on, but I was thinking as a long term storyline they could be possibly placing those hints. Anyway I just got to a part where Donut monologues to Mordecai and says "No we are not goin to have some long, drawn-out storyline where we break up and then get back together. We're already doing that with Katia right now"
It's like she was reading my mind.

Shit's still gonna be bad when that Tiara comes into play....

Off topic but I am newly unemployed. Gonna use this interim time while I’m looking for a job to plow through some books haha. Probably lots of gym time + Audible in the coming weeks. Maybe even… DCC??

Good lord Disquiet Gods is a brain melter and I’m loving it. It’s Howling Dark cranked to 20 with Demon in White’s structure.

I’ve got all six DCC, plus about 550 other books that are mostly spec fic genres, haha.

You also owe me at least 1-2 books that you’ve written to help beta read soon, I think. ;)

Fair point haha. I'm getting the ball rolling on publishing the first Garden Knight soon, actually. Like, soon soon. So I should probably have you take a look at the followup...

Very intrigued/excited to see the covers. With cozy fantasy kinda taking off, it’s a good time for it, too. I’ve read the Baldtree duo, and yours scratches a different itch while still being in the same wheelhouse. More pastoral, in the nature sense. Which I know was your intent.

Haha me too. I’ve got a couple options for covers that I’m looking at. Very much a consideration of time/money and all that. But hopefully I can put together something good.

I appreciate that comparison too, for even though I haven’t read those books yet, that’s definitely the vibe and wheelhouse I’m looking for, so I’m hoping the stories click with people.

Relevant to the thread more generally, I’ll let people know when I publish something if anyone wants a read.

    *sigh* here we go again

Currently listening to Kingdoms of Death, the next Sun Eater book and i'm absolutely buzzing to be back in this world

My highly anticipated read of the year is The Silverblood Promise by James Logan. Only 5 chapters in but it's shaping up really well!

I finally updated my library card, so I’ve been breezing through Rick Riordan’s third quintet in the PJ universe as I’ve needed a brain break, but gearing up to read Brent Weeks here soon.

Hoping to get through a lot of my TBR backlog this year. My new responsibilities at work have me spending a lot of time where I can listen while updating forms.

Rick Riordan books are great. I wish my library had access to the Kane audiobooks because that's where I'm at in the series but have really enjoyed them in audio format.

I too am doing a backlog dive this year. It's been great so far.

@GBlades Silverblood is on my list too! I've heard great things and it looks really cool.

It seems very Locke Lamora-y. Which I would agree with, if i read it.

My personal favorite of the series (though Disquiet Gods most likely will be taking over that spot)
