I think I like ITTC more than a lot of people here. It’s up there with Infirmary and Good Mourning. Still need to have this new album sink in a bit but it’s probably going to be in the tier with these others.

First record I got initial them was FHTI, bought it the day after seeing them and NFG open for Blink on the Pop Disaster tour.

I would rate Good Mourning higher but Matt’s voice is…ROUGH. The songs slap though.

Agony & Irony has the second-strongest hooks from start to finish of any record they have ever made; it’s almost a pop masterpiece. I said what I said.

Hot take my favorite matt has ever sounded is on good mourning lol. I know his voice is fucked but it sounds awesome

To be fair, I don't think that's a particularly hot take! Matt sounds great on GM

Matt's fucked up voice on GM adds so much character to it. just listen to Blue in the Face on Damnesia in comparison, it's lacking all of the emotion and feeling

I got a cold yesterday so I haven’t listened much to it since I don’t want to associate it with not being able to breathe through my nose lol.

Will update with my rankings in a week or two, but it’s up there with ITTC for me as better than the three albums after Crimson.

Honestly I thought Matt's voice on GM was intentional until I read this thread. I was introduced to the band with Good Mourning, they had the ~spooky~ vibe going in the We've Had Enough video and I just thought it was part of the aesthetic - guy sounded like a fuckin' ghoul.

Infirmary, Mourning and Cursed was my exact order of faves with Crimson right there at 4th. This is easily jumping in my top 3 right away though

I thought I remembered people loving My Shame is True when it came out.

Honestly I get it. GD and MICF are so raw compared to everything we get after FHTI.

I've always thought Shame was their weakest tbh. Matt's songs on that album are all super bland and the production isn't really helping him there, just a thin and awkward sounding mix. everything Dan wrote in that era is absolute heat though, Broken Wing is one of his best

Shame is better than This Addiction, but I remember @Drew Beringer really liking Shame when it came out too!

gonna disagree there, Fine is maybe my favourite Alk3 song and the first half of that album is pretty great overall. Lead Poisoning, American Scream and Off the Map are sick

Off the top of my head. A lot of tracks I love on TA/MSIT but just feel the quality overall isn't there.
BHE too early to rate, but I think it's joint with Cursed after a few listens. They contrast and compliment each other well imo.

Yeah idk I go back and forth on them. I think both would be far better if you cut some lame Matt songs (Draculina, Dorothy, One Last Dance, etc.) and replace them with the absolute heaters that got left off the albums (Kick Rocks, Those Lungs, the entire Broken Wing EP).

Honestly whoever picked the track listings for those albums should be fired lol

Balanced on a Shelf should've been the opener for Shame and Only Love should've been the closer I always thought. they contrast each other really powerfully

BH&E just might surpass Crimson, but I didn't want to be too hasty. It's still settling in but goddamnit I love it.
