    Play the Yakuza series

It’s basically the 8th installment of the series lol. You should start with either Yakuza 0 or Kiwami 1, I’d say Yakuza 0 but either is fine. Also 0-7 are on game pass already!

The Yakuza games aren't really that long either, so if you just wanna do the main story and skip all sides missions it won't take long at all. It's the side missions, karaoke, mini games etc that will suck up time.

Also I think Like a Dragon Gaiden which takes place between 6 and 7 is on Game Pass.

Memories are nice, but that's all they are. Prestigious

If you just wanna roll into the “new” arc of these games, I’d say starting with Yakuza:Like A Dragon would be okay. You’ll miss some references and context, but it’s a good initial entry point if you don’t want to go back and do all the beat em ups.

obviously I’d recommend playing them all because they’re fantastic, but I know it’s an overwhelming franchise

Agreed.... I'd say 7 and Gaiden are pretty much the beginning of the new arc but Kiryiu's journey is soooo worth it.

Player's Log: IOBit Malware Fighter Pro.

So I actually have a few programs from IOBit to help maintain my computer. One being a driver updater, another being a defragmentation tool, another being a general cleanup tool.

Today I renewed my license by purchasing their newest versions in a bundle deal, and it included for the first time, a tool to protect against malware. I usually just go with the classic Defender, but since it came with my bundle, I figured "Why not?"

Then I tried to open Trails of Cold Steel IV, and it crashed immediately with an error revolving around ucrtbase.dll. I'm thinking something got corrupted, so I'm running tests, I'm having Steam check the integrity, I'm redownloading distributables, etc.

Finally, because I could think of no other immediate possibility, I remove the malware tool from my computer. Immediately Trails of Cold Steel IV starts working again.

Like... what the fuck. What. The. Fuck. Waste of a couple hours of my life right here.

Just played the first Halo for the first time. Did the whole campaign in an evening with my mate.

so much level design recycling and that final warthog run can fuck right off

  19. I thought i was in the mood for something like Shadowrun Returns but I tried it for ten minutes and... nope, maybe some other time. Also I hate when games move the camera excessively.

I think I'm more in the mood for something like Hades and Dreamscaper, not necessarily another rogue, just top-down and I can use a controller.

the library is the absolute worst level of any video game ever. however the silent cartographer might be the best level ever especially for a game from 2001. mind blowing as a ten year old. still held up when I played it a couple years ago. the library did not.

the lost crown is such a solid game. Just wrapped up hyrcanian forest and now heading to upper citadel. not the most challenging metroidvania I’ve ever played yet but I heard toward the 15 hour mark when you’ve unlocked every single ability the puzzle design steps up in a big way. as it is the puzzles, platforming, and combat are fantastic im just waiting for that big challenge to come
