Not bad for their 14th album in 2024, coming back after their worst album. All the good press this has gotten is great.

    The Fly

Once again I'll say... COMA CITY. God damn I love that song. The structure is great, keeps switching it up, and then the outro blasts off into space with the phaser/flanger and everything. So good!!

Also obsessed with the way BJA sings "gun shot / gun shot / hey"... vintage stuff right there

Can’t stop listening to this album. It’s essentially Nimrod 2.0, in my opinion, because it has a bit of everything they have done in their career and done tastefully while sprinkling in a new sound. Just like Nimrod was.

Maybe their next album will be a Warning 2.0 and they’ll go all in with the new direction they took on some songs here.

Another reason this is kind of like EWBAITE is how it’s not really classic Green Day but it’s a return to just fun, good music and you don’t mind it hopping a bit all over the place.

Nimrod is definitely the one I think of the most in comparison. I think it stacks up in terms of quality, not just style.

I'd say this is the album RevRad could have been if they'd had a producer to push them.

Also earlier I decided I want a Bill Stevenson Green Day record.

Now the singles are all 'gelling' with the rest of the album for me, and I think this is in secret masterpiece territory.

Con you elaborate? I never saw Green Day as a “belligerent” band.

  17. Just the beef they apparently had with Offspring and Blink came to mind when someone was talking about their tour openers.

And Laura Jane Grace talks in her book about beefing with Billie while Against Me! was on tour with Green Day.

I can't remember that in the book but it's getting on for a loooong time since I read it though she did post this in 2017 so assume all is cool?

Yeah not sure where that is in the book, I just re read that part and LJG just talks about being very thankful since Green Day was her first concert ever.

I thought they had something against blink, but just that. I just also remembered a Fat Mike interview where he called them out for not wanting to be part of the Punk Rock Museum.

Maybe I’m thinking of alkaline trio? Idk, I haven’t read it in a few years haha

If Weezer isn’t in the Punk Rock Museum, Green Day isn’t the Punk Rock Museum.

  25. I think I remember that too.

mostly just wish they had a better support band on this upcoming tour so I could justify going :crylaugh:
