This is really funny to read, because when I was a courier for FedEx many years ago we were expressly forbidden from talking politics or saying anything considered overtly political when on the job or wearing the uniform. They even specified this second point and used the example of grocery shopping in your uniform on the way home from work in their hypothetical example. They also made us do sexual harassment trainings that boiled down to ‘only talk about things that directly tie into the work you are currently doing and nothing else’, which was officially referred to as “Package Handling” if we were in the station, so I mean the jokes wrote themselves. They drilled this all into us repeatedly at trainings over and over again.

wearing the purple shorts ='d no talking about politics or sex

i fully understand your point, and believe we’re on the same side here but poking fun at that entire regions lack of human rights for women and LGBT folks is really shitty.

The only similarities between socialism and fascism are the populist revolutionary aesthetics. The way they function as government couldn't be any different.

. Mussolini being a former socialist who took a hard right turn towards nationalism after WW1, his conception of fascism was essentially co-opting the revolutionary language and tactics of socialism but replacing class struggle as the core tenant with national/ethnic struggle. He originally wanted to call it "Revolutionary Nationalism", which I think is a more apt name.

For example when you hear Steve Bannon say he is a student of Lenin, or you hear Proud Boys saying Jan 6th was inspired by the Bolsheviks storming the Winter Palace, that is textbook fascism by Mussolini's definition

Mussolini was basically the 1910's equivalent of a leftist shitposter/podcaster who became a reactionary after getting canceled online. Fascism was created by those type of guys.

“Consulting” always sounds like one of those fake jobs to me

  18. The history of the NSDAP's contemporaries the "Conservative Revolutionaries" in Germany is also pretty interesting and informative. The Francis Parker Yockey (postwar wannabe nazi Bond villain) biography by Coogan goes into it and the history of "revolutionary" conservative thought pretty deeply

This thread weaves in and out between scientific jargon I’ll never understand and more easy to understand stuff. This guy’s covid stuff has been pretty good imo and he’s pretty anti-China from what I’ve seen, so him still being cautious about saying it definitely shows lab leak is interesting

Can't believe no one ever thought of designating specific zones where crime isn't allowed. If only we had some means of applying that logic over wide areas; a strict infrastructure, if you will, that would outline the notion that crime is not to be tolerated. Oh well.
