Song should be called “Father to a Motherfucker.”

What an awful list that is.

That article was written by someone who LOATHS Green Day.

For what it's worth though, both Stereo gum and Spin have Saviors at No. 8.

  4. Some baffling choices in that list

Not going to rag on fellow music writers on this of all days, but I’ll just say: I disagree with that person!

  6. I like Jay because I love how they write and I like that the list was a little different even if I disagree with the order

There was a guy on here who also ranked AI low and put Insomniac first. Who are these maniacs.

Some solid zingers in that piece, though, I have to admit.

insomniac at no. 1 is objectively correct. rest of the list: idk

i do feel there are microgenerational differences in green day fandom tho. i know someone just a year older than me who loved the dookie-to-nimrod run and started falling off with warning and hated everything after

Going to the show tonight. Hopefully they play a lot of new material.

  13. I remember being introduced to Green Day via a commercial (lol) for American Idiot and my brother, a Green Day fan 10 years older than me, pretty much denouncing it immediately

Yeah that SG list seems to not even be written by a fan or someone who fell off in like....1995.

Kerplunk is one of the first cds I ever owned. I remember reading the insert when I was like, 7 years old about the fan dismembering her family members.

    Things have changed.

Very funny writing in that list, even if I disagree with the order in a big way.

People who joined at or just super love AI above the rest of the albums, is everything before AI viewed as “Green Day before they became Green Day”? Or like their messier/less refined early records? I’m on the other side where Kerplunk to Nimrod/Warning are THE Green Day records and after that it’s like a second phase/version of the band I like much less.

I became a fan with AI and fell in love with their back catalog pretty immediately. It was cool being able to look back on a band’s evolution like that. If anything, the wait for 21cb was so long to me (as a kid) that for me the “new era” really starts there.

Been in since Dookie in 94 so I also consider American Idiot to be Green Day 2.0. I actually think AI is their best and these two lists posted today are written by people trying WAY to hard to be interesting by putting Nimrod and Warning in front of it.

  20. I, too, try too hard to be interesting.

Nimrod and Warning are my two favorites.

Warning is easily my favorite. I respect American Idiot as an album, but I don't really enjoy listening to it. Dookie and Nimrod round out my top 3, but the order depends on the day.

Saviors ranking means absolutely nothing to me so long as it doesn’t fall below the likes of the trilogy and FOAM. This band have 6 excellent records, so it was very likely always going to be 7th at best for me personally

Had Dookie on Casette in '94:

    1. Dookie
    2. Nimrod
    3. Warning
    4. Insomniac
    5. AI
    6. Kerplunk

Don't really re-visit any of the others...

    I really love Bobby Sox.

I like 1981 but I agree that the chorus is a bit whack.

    Overall, pretty good album!
