Yeah, I definitely wouldn't say Three Days Grace worked just fine after switching singers. They were pretty big with their first two albums and then fell off hard.

Alice in Chains is still pretty much Jerry's show, right? I don't know, I never really listened to AIC much after Layne died. And I also think there is a difference between adding a singer after one's death (AIC/STP) and just straight up replacing someone while they are still alive. Were the bands able to still keep going? Sure. But were they ever nearly as popular/successful as they once were? No way.

Supposedly Daron recorded a third Scars on Broadway* album in 2018, I hope that if System aren't going to put out music then that gets released at some point. The second album in particular was a lot stronger

*sorry, that should be Daron Malakian's Daron Malakian and Scars on Broadway, written by and starring Daron Malakian, exec producer etc

Honestly, Blink and TBS (nolan/Fred being replaced) are probably the best examples. But even then, you still had Mark and Adam to identify with on vocals.

I mean, they're still pushing singles that do well on rock radio and they still headline big tours, so I'm not sure what you want.

But I personally think the three albums they've done with Matt are way better than the last two they made with Adam, or Saint Asonia.

Further Seems Forever is a great example. 4 albums with 3 different singers, and all of them are great in their own way (both the albums and the singers).

The correct answer is The Misfits

Judas Priest tried but Rob is as irreplaceable as Serj

Goo Goo Dolls is another famous example, although technically that's more Robby limiting himself to two songs an album so Johnny could take center stage. But Robby was originally the main vocalist.

Zero interest in SOAD without Serj.

so I just read that 200 greatest singers list from Rolling Stone earlier this year and I'm kinda surprised Serj wasn't on it considering what they were going for...figured he had the right combo of insane range and weird styling to get on there

If SOAD ever came back with a new album, I guarantee you the number of people who would be upset that they've "gone political" would be more than one.

of all the possible lines from one of their songs to spraypaint on a wall

annoying how Daron is/was also a key, even essential ingredient in and architect of the band but also the source of all their subpar material as well
