it’s bizarre seeing how poorly festivals go in NYC. Panorama had some of the best lineups and they could never get people to come out. Same thing with All Points West…it’s so strange that people won’t travel 30mins on a train to see a great lineup.

I assume it just because every act plays a NYC headlining show so it’s not that big of a deal to goto a festival.

Victoria Monet, Peso Pluma and Rauw Alejandro are all dope booking for me.

Yeah it's an interesting conversation. I don't have any data to support this obviously but the demo for the alt/indie acts tends to skew slightly older. Those people may already have young kids so just getting out to a show at a regular venue in the city is probably already enough of an ordeal. If you are asking someone to travel 1-2 hours to some park or field to see a bunch of acts that will likely have their own headlining dates closer in 4-6 months, not everyone is going to jump at that. There are also very few area exclusives for NYC festivals. Usually it's a headliner that's doing a 2nd or 3rd leg of their tour. The only one I can truly remember being the one area date was Radiohead doing 2 nights at All Points West in 2008 and even both days of that didn't sell out.

a local venue does theme nights and all that stuff. They just rescheduled a Lana Del Rey night due to someone being sick and I’m just like what

I know it’s probably the dj sick but like it’s funny to think they had to reschedule and just didn’t use Spotify shuffle or something lol

Problem with Panorama was that it was in the middle of July, which is 1) the hottest time of the year in NYC, 2) usually when people flee the city for the hamptons & jersey shore, and 3) was on Randall's Island, which didn't have any parking available. Your only options were to walk the 1 mile bridge from Harlem/Astoria, or take the ferry from midtown.

I remember there was one year I was planning to go, but the temperature hit 105 that weekend so we bailed.

Those first 2 Panorama lineups were great. I also was looking at Gov Ball 2013-14 and, wow, for alt/indie/rock they were both STACKED

Also GovBall sold really well when it initially moved to a 3 day eclectic fest….tbh Panorama may have been responsible for the big shift in Govball’s plans…for one they saw Panorama was geared toward an older audience so GovBall skewed to the younger and second GovBall was independently run by Founders but to keep up w Panoramas lineups joined up w LiveNation resulting in much less diversity in their lineups

I will say the first panorama was probably the best festival I ever attended…it undersold so it wasn’t crowded…they had AC spots and bathrooms …a planetarium and an incredible lineup

Was that the year the headliners were LCD-Arcade FIre-Kendrick? That might've been the year the temperature passed 100 degrees so we bailed. AC spots is a nice touch though, wish more festivals did that

Doubt this will resonate with most here…but def see the Madonna tour if you get a chance. Prob her last major arena run and the production is top notch, live vocals for probably 95% of the show, and the setlist is just perfection (it’s def her Eras tour ha).

If you can find a cheap-ish ticket I highly recommend! My first time seeing her and you can absolutely see where Gaga, Beyoncé, Dua, etc all borrowed ideas from in a live perspective.

I had no idea she was touring and thought that she cancelled due to health issues. I saw Gaga and Beyonce and enjoyed both immensely from a production and 'fandom' perspective. I can see any genre just to immerse myself in the joy of others. I am not sure I could swing it, but definitely will be looking out for ticket drops. It's nice to hear it's not a phoned in, poorly performed cash grab.

Saw Beyoncé and Gaga as well on their most recent tours. While the level of spectacle that was Renaissance is def not here, the setlist more than makes up for it.

That Gaga tour felt so sterile for her. I’ve seen every tour of hers outside of the Joanne tour and this most recent one just didn’t have the spectacle. Also, so many casual fans that just didn’t seem interested in hearing Chromatica album tracks. Her actual performance is still A+ tho.

Wasn't on my radar at all but I'll try to catch 1 of the 2 MSG dates in a couple weeks, thank you!

I just got an email from MetLife Stadium about upcoming concerts... I guess I completely missed a P!nk tour being announced with Sheryl Crow & The Script supporting?? I've never wanted to see music at an NFL stadium but I'd love to see all 3 artists, def gonna hit that up
