I don’t agree to say it’s going to be phased out. It’ll never be at the levels it was during the pandemic (nor should it be), but I think generally the appeal to hybrid work will allow it to stay in fields where it’s feasible. A company hiring for a position offering a hybrid remote policy should be easier to fill than a company hiring for the same position but only fully in office and it’s gonna force that company to keep some sort of hybrid offering to stay competitive. The article even mentions that despite the decrease in six-figure jobs being remote, overall hybrid/remote jobs held mostly steady throughout the year and the decrease might have more to do with the state of the economy rather than companies moving away from remote work.

I could totally be wrong but that’s just how I see it. My job has gone full-time hybrid and the union is currently negotiating on expanding the hybrid remote work program we have because they know that it’s important for hiring prospects and retaining employees

Yeah. Like my career remains largely remote or hybrid friendly in most cases. It means I’m fucked finding a job. But they’re not going away.

I got my first job when I was 15 in 2000 as a dishwasher for a ma and pop Italian restaurant and made like, $5.25 an hour.

I remember working pretty long shifts and never getting a break. I would be so hungry, I’d eat any food that was left over in the cook’s pan or even eat food off plates returned to the kitchen.

    Didn’t stay there long…

had a very similar experience my first job at a tapas ish restaurant. only took a couple shifts before they started waking me and calling asking me to come in a couple hours earlier then scheduled after working till 1 the night before. always have worked labor jobs but that just wasnt it. restaurant industry is so exploitive and unfortunately mom and pop shops are often especially bad
