Pretty good with the increase in PPVs.

The only issue with the Reigns/Rock N1, Reigns/Rhodes N2 scenario is that it puts Reigns at a clear disadvantage against Cody having wrestled in the main event the night prior. The solution to this, obviously, is to book Cody in a N1 match, too. The problem with both is that you have to simultaneously sell two feuds for each guy. I think I just prefer Rock facing Reigns at Elimination Chamber, and then either not working Mania, or just doing some kind of appearance or other match that can reside elsewhere on the card.

Regarding Mone/Banks, if all things were equal, I think she's far more likely to be creatively fulfilled in WWE than she is AEW. We've seen big signings in the women's division before, albeit none as big as her, and none have turned out particularly well long-term. They finally seem to be getting their shit together in that regard, but I'm a little surprised she wants to be a part of that figuring out process rather than coming in to a healthy, established division.

I do wonder if she's just getting a bigger offer from them. Which, if so, good for her. Perhaps she's more likely to put up with some of the booking issues they have there in exchange for knowing she's got the biggest contract available to her.

I say this acknowledging, of course, that she's had her fair share of creative discourse with WWE, too. It's just that she's more likely to be the big star there than anywhere else.

I feel like this is so unbelievably easy to book am i missing something? Does Roman ditch big matches and big challenges?

But we are talking about a cocky heel with an incredibly delusional ego who hasnt been beaten in 4 years. Of course he is going to think he can handle it and it even keeps him strong for when he did lose to Cody.

Idk yall wrestling booking is so so simple when it's at it's best. It would be such an easy on fire build to Mania. Building 2 big feuds with those three on WWE TV is EASY, they have plenty of time to fill!

If you want to claim the Mania tickets sold out almost already and they won't blow their load, it sucks if WWE has to think like that rather than thinking what could be the most memorable massive show they could put on. The billions are being made one way or another. I don't think Trips is Vince-brained like that.

There is no possible match you can give Cody at Mania if it doesn't involve Roman, it will come off like a wet fart no matter what.

It's not about Reigns' perception of the situation, it's about how it looks for Cody. When Cody beats Roman, you don't want there to be any plausible excuse that can be made by anyone. You want him to definitively beat him with both guys on equal playing fields. There can't be anything resembling an asterisk with him at this point.

All that means is they will wrestle in the future and they use that angle from Roman to build it up huge for the rematch at SummerSlam or whatever. This is ez booking.

The top heel ALWAYS has an excuse for losing.

Yeah, I just vehemently disagree with that logic. This whole thing was about Rhodes finishing the story at WrestleMania. There can be rematches down the line and you can tell that story however you want to tell it, but absolutely anything other than beating Roman on an even playing field is going to be viewed by people as a cop out and a consolation prize.

The heel always has an excuse for losing, but usually it isn't true. This complaint would be absolutely valid and would send a clear message that Cody could only do it because of a technicality.

  11. I genuinely believe that Cody is going to lose again

And I think that would absolutely be a better booking decision than having him win thanks to Reigns being tired from facing The Rock the night before.

I totally get where you are coming from but the crowd will pop just as loud either way when Cody gets the clean pin. Fans aren't sitting there doing the kayfabe booking math of why it isn't a 'good enough' win. Wrestling fans generally don't work that way. We on here are different than the typical fan, especially WWE fans.

and again, this is what the company should want, another 4 to 6 month build for a rematch where Roman IS fully rested, then they can choose to fuck Cody over (probably) and lose or give him that incredible rub that would probably be stronger from beating Roman twice.

Wow I miss talking wrestling I need to watch again lol.

I do see what you are saying though.

I haven't watched WWE in forever but what is the plan for Punk at Mania? I mean Punk/KO to me makes the most sense just for a narrative POV.

Seeing that KO is likely going to win the US title tonight you have a belt on the line too.

    they could;
run roman and rock at EC
solo interferes (duh), cody saves rocky
tag match at mania night 1, punk v rollins to headline
cody v roman night 2 for the strap

    gg ez

They'd definitely get the pop, but I do think WWE has been doing a much better job telling stories - especially with Cody, enough to care about the little intricacies like this. Everything they've done with him has been pretty calculated. It's also one of those deals where, even if the fans aren't expressly thinking it, commentary is likely to say something unless directed otherwise by Triple H and co.

And then if they don't do that, you'll see plenty of people poking at the obvious flaw there.

You're absolutely right that there is a big section of the fan base that doesn't care about the granular detail of this stuff, but generally, there's just no harm in actually booking this soundly and everyone usually winds up the better for it.

I do think the tag match that @foolton pointed out works to solve the whole thing really well, too. Cody gets another rub from saving/teaming with Rock, and Rock gets on the Mania card without causing an issue for Cody.
