it is beautiful to me (in a purely ironic way, i know he sucks) that after 75 years Impact is TNA again and they still are gonna have Tommy Dreamer working their preshows lol

    No Fun. Not Ever.

I was watching WK with some friends yesterday and we started talking about possibly driving to Philly for the Collective this year.

Super stoked for this weekend. The biggest indie wrestling weekend Portland has ever seen. Very excited to go to Prestige tonight and see Josh Alexander/Timothy Thatcher and Kalisto/Lio Rush. Great way to start 2024. Raw is here on Monday too but tickets are way too expensive for how boring it would probably be haha

It's funny because when Nick Khan was initially brought on, it was met with a lot of (justified) skepticism that the move would lead WWE even further away from wrestling and deeper down the entertainment path because of his acumen and history of pursuit of "best for business." Turns out, "best for business" has largely been just embracing the fact that they're a wrestling product.

(I don't mean to paint him in an exclusively positive light, because he's also overseen significant job loss, of course.)

I was at the one they did in Indy during the pandemic, it was super fun. Can't wait to go again.

Yeah the whole card is awesome. Mix of big matchups and some great feuds with local talent. I feel really lucky to have such a great local promotion.

A good/smart CEO eventually sees the absurdity of how WWE approached things as a monolith...why keep pissing off stars you want to keep (like a Mox or D-Bry, etc) when you can create a partnership and use your talent like you do sending them back to NXT?

Like, its really silly for NJPW to benefit from Dolph, or AEW to benefit from D-Bry, when they could both still be WWE contracted wrestlers doing NJPW or CMLL or similar stints

I think the course had been run with Dolph, but the general point is certainly valid regardless.

Oh for sure, but they could have put Dolph and D-Bry in the G1 back in 2021 and headed all this stuff off, for example. Forbidden Door might never happen had they done so (and instead we get a big WWE PPV like Elim Chamber at the Tokyo Dome)

I'm sure one of you geeks have brought this idea up but Alvarez has the obvious best for business booking for Mania.

Night 1 Roman goes over Rock, Night 2 Cody goes over Roman. That's as big as it can get for that stage.

they would really need to explain why suddenly Roman feels like wrestling two nights in a row, like legit lol. his character would fight this at all costs and in kayfabe HHH and co are basically cool w him never working. also they've already sold almost all the Mania tickets, no way they blow their whole load on a sold show

Eh, I dont think its that hard. He's contractually obligated to face the winner of the Rumble or Elimination Chamber. So thats one match that needs no motivation. The second is it that it will take the Rock about 30s to roast Roman to pieces, and boom you have your motivation for match #2 for Head of the Table. KO talked him into a match at the Rumble the same way, basically.

edit: Also, didnt the Jey/Roman match for Summerslam get made by the Elders, functionally? Like, its treated like the challenge for the Black Panther suit; you make the claim and it happens?

Though I think that order is off; you run Rock v Roman on Night 1, he keeps the head of the table crown, and then Cody puts him down to end WM to finish the story. And Punk gets to open Night 1 of a B1G1 extravaganza instead of main eventing it, which is very funny

i would hate this but you're right i can see it. only reason i hate it is WWE would run the "Roman wasn't 100% after night one" angle and completely ruin the fucking biggest rub they've given someone since Hogan/Warrior

but the Punk thing would be worth it for sure
