Anyone ever had a tattoo “revitalized?” I got a half sleeve done a couple years ago that overall I really like, the important parts look great, but there are smaller parts of it I think are noticeably subpar for the artist and it looks a little disjointed, even after some communication on what I wanted adjusted during the sessions, so I’m a bit worried going back. Not sure how to approach it. I’d consider going to another artist to “fix” but seems like every artist I really like on Instagram doesn’t do cover ups so I imagine they wouldn’t do this. Any recs?

  8. I've often considered discussing a full "touch-up" session with my artist, just hitting the black spots that have faded a bit more noticeably than others

I think you just need to look long enough to find an artist willing to do it. I had one artist who didn't bat an eyelash at doing new black in a tattoo she hadn't done originally. I totally get that feeling of lost trust in an artist, though. I had an experience recently where my artist completely missed the boat on what I had asked for, but fortunately I realized it pre-tattoo and opted to have them only do part of the initial ask. It was filler, so I'm planning to find another artist to do the rest. Eventually.

I know there are some Minnesota people lurking in these parts - highly recommend Tiger Rose in North Mpls.

when your artist throws up the “appointments have been cancelled” signal on instagram and you live around the corner, you show up and end the year. (I have boney knees, flower ends right at below my cap lol)

  18. This is why I love having some tattoos that mean a lot to me and some that are just silly because I always get something out of it. I have a few for my mom and every time I got them my artist made sure to take real good care and make sure that I was okay during the session. And then, when I go and get silly ones or flash, we have a good time, just being idiots in the shop and hanging out.

Got an update with my last couple, this one was two weeks ago:

This one I just got tonight, inspired by The National song Pink Rabbits. The rabbits are a little more coral than pink but they should fade into a bit more pink:

A buddy of my preferred artist is currently traveling the country and stopping at his friends' shops for a week doing guest spots. Had him do a Crazy Sal on my wrist over the weekend. IMG_0814.jpg

The tattoo has been around for a long time but it was popularized by criminal Sal DeSarno who killed a cop in the 80s and had this tattoo on his chest. His capture became famous with him cuffed and the tattoo exposed.
