Poor baby, you're starting to lose it.

Watched this tonight. I knew going into it that it would be rather avant-garde but I found it much easier to take in than I would have thought. I am not entirely sure what “happened” but I’m not getting too caught up in that - the visuals and sound design did their thing and fucked me up. I am positive that I am going to see the floating head in the final shot in my nightmares tonight.

  6. I’ve been playing these videos through my TV recently while working. Pulling some late hours right now trying to finish up a project and was trying to figure out why it suddenly creeped me out with it being dark outside. Then I realized it’s because the sound quality makes it feels like I’m in this movie. Feature not a bug imo but I turned on an extra light to be safe

  7. Couldn’t sleep so made the questionable decision to put this on at 4a. I wasn’t really on board until the kids woke up but I was totally engrossed by the end of it. I think watching it alone in the middle of the night worked very well mood wise but I wish I made an effort to see this in theaters.

The distorted voices and the way things would suddenly disappear and reappear, along with the noise that accompanied those moments, reminded me lot of Twin Peaks.

I am really shocked that some people on this forum called this the worst movie they saw this year. It manages to find horror in the mundane, in those places you don't fully understand as a child, and the beauty of lulling an audience into a false sense of security rather than bombarding them with gore and jump scares.

Yeah i thought this was a super compelling movie, and one of the more terrifying scenarios presented in recent horror movies (being helpless, trapped by something incomprehensible with limited ability to understand what’s happening to you).

I haven’t seen it yet because the trailer reminds me too much a recurring nightmare I sometimes get. I just don’t want to trigger that if I can avoid it.

The way the dialogue is mixed makes every word sound like a failing children’s toy and that creeped me tf out

  14. This movie tickles my brain and freaks me out in a way no other movie quite has since The Blair Witch Project. The aesthetic choices definitely play a part in that, but not as much as the themes and the premise itself.

This is the scariest movie I think I’ve seen, I still have to keep my hall light on

Personally, it’s just so hard for me to get over what I’m looking at essentially the entire film.

I still think it works better as a short film. “Heck” really freaked me out. But either way, really admire they were able to pull this off and do fairly well for what it is.

  22. Between the setting and my headspace at the time, I think I experienced this the perfect way and am a little afraid that a rewatch would tarnish the standard I hold it to in my head a little

Similar to when I first saw Hereditary, Kyle has cemented himself as a director I will be excited for everything he puts out.
