Took the kids to the Nickelodeon park at the American Dream mall. I’ve been watching them build that thing since 2008. Got 50% off tickets for Black Friday.

Some of those coasters are wild looking. We stuck to the kid rides, but I can see the coasters being good for the teen set. The one is a shuttle coaster that goes through three inversions, then the platform rotates, and the train launches through the course backwards. The one ninja turtle one has the steepest drop in the country. Just really crazy stuff.

It was empty from 11-3 and then we left bc it was jam packed (Christmas break). The theming of the rides is cool and the park was clean. Operations were brutal bc the ride operators were trying to enforce certain rules (smaller rider on inside of car) and people weren’t having it or there was a language barrier. It took close to 10 minutes to load the Reptar carousel.

They advertise lots of character meets but they are far and few between. My one kid got to meet two of the Paw Patrol dogs but she wanted to meet one of the others.

Would never pay $90 but $40 was fair I thought.

The mall as a whole is bizarre. They still have so much unoccupied space.

 

There’s a really interesting Bright Sun Films video about that mall and why it is still so empty.

 

Just watched them and it checks out. It’s the literal worst location. It’s basically landlocked except for one side. When I left I wound up driving backwards through the turnstiles for the football stadium for some reason. The signage is awful. They were just letting people out without scanning the parking pass. Of course like a good human I paid my $5 anyway.

There is just random stuff everywhere in the mall. They had a giant stage set up with a DJ and Shrek dancing up there by himself. The Santa area was set up even though Santa was gone but people were all climbing in his chair to take pictures. Seems like people go there just to see how bizarre it truly is.

Wow... I only got to one theme park this year. Kind of sad. Should be getting to BGW and KD in early 24 though.

 

Not even Frontier City?

 

Nah I actually haven’t been there since…October 2019 I think? We had annual passes for six flags/FC for 2020 and then that happened, they extended to 2021 but still never ended up using them. Frontier City’s got weird hours when it’s not summer and I don’t want to go that badly when it’s a billion degrees out
