he just has a different opinion on those albums, which is fine even if i think those opinions are unfair. the majority of the review gives this album the credit it deserves which is good enough. and maybe people who skipped over some of those albums that catch this review will still give them a shot because he does call invented ambitious

The pitchfork review was pretty good, and surprisingly a much higher score than I anticipated. There were HELLA copy editing errors // typos when I first read it tho. Not a big deal ofc just something I noticed

yeah noticed tons of bad errors. i used to get so embarrassed when people pointed out shit on my reviews and i didnt even have an editor

I wonder if it's just a thing where since this came out late Friday night / Saturday morning it didn't have a chance to get looked over by another editor? idk

I agree that every record from Clarity forward is great and still think this is their best in a long time.

Never came around to Damages sadly

  10. Agreed about CTL and Damage, but I think I agree with him about Deja at this point. But that's a discussion for another thread...

Really excited to listen to this album. Bummed I missed these guys bc of work when they were in town last wk, but I'm plotting a trip up to Indy in Dec to see them

I preordered the record via Kings Road Merch and I haven't even received a download link. Anyone with a similar problem?

The End Is Beautiful is probably my early favorite. I wish they kept it going just a little bit longer and blew it up to end the song. One more chorus where they just come in overtop with Jim singing a little rougher would be amazing

Pre-ordered through them as well. Got shipping notification Tuesday and download link at Midnight on Thursday. Might want to contact them.

Listening to the podcast now. Complete agree with you @Craig Manning about It Matters. That one is my favorite song on the album and the lyrics to that second verse are among the best Jim has ever penned. Absolutely heartbreaking.

What a beautiful record. Great group of songs that make you feel something. That's important in music. That inspirational.

I like the production on this record. There is a certain standard and expectation from this band when they release an album every three years. It's also cool now that they've released videos for acoustic versions of songs (3 so far and I hope they keep going).

So many of my favourite bands have been coming up with such solid release la this year.

Also, this may have been discussed already, but how did "Pol Roger" become a hybrid with "You with Me" in the liner notes?

I love how much of "Integrity Blues" (both the title track and album) seems to directly reference "My Sundown" (as well as much of their past discography).

    My Sundown:

"I need you to show me the way from crazy / I want to be so much more than this"

    Integrity Blues:

    "I wish I could hold
    I wish I could touch
But a fool just wants and wants"

    My Sundown:

    "With one hand high
    You'll show them your progress
    You'll take your time
    But no one cares"

    "Integrity Blues"

"It's all what you do when no one cares"

Jim has come such a long way.

    "I'll chew on a dog!"

"Pretty Grids" officially clicked for me this morning. Jims vocals have never sounded like that and it's haunting and groovy as hell.

  23. i love this band with all my heart
