Capitalized off the show format means for the story to justify 6 episodes. Many of shows imo have not justified the episodic format. Marvel seems to have noticed this as well as they have recently began to have actual showrunner positions for their shows currently in production. They're slowing learning what's working and what didn't with the previous disney+ shows.

 

The Infinity Saga ran from 2008 to 2019, so where you get this "same amount of time" nonsense is beyond me. Even if you wanted to equate runtime hours, it's not a fair comparison since the six hours being used on a TV show doesn't mean it should have three films worth of ideas.

The Thunderbolts plotline has shown up in Black Widow, Falcon And The Winter Soldier, Hawkeye, and Wakanda Forever. Bits and bobs here and there, sure, but it's meant to be a slowly unraveling thing in the background.

As for the rest, we've already discussed that at length and I have no interest in beating the same dead horse.

I'd be way more interested in hearing your own ideas and discussing them than continuing to argue about blanket statements every week.

Honestly, back when I worked in a call center, when I had downtime, I actually wrote down my own ideas for Marvel shows I wanted to see. At the time it was Blade, Moon Knight, Ghost Rider, and Hellstorm. Now, one of those has been done by the MCU with another eventually on the way.

Do I think I could've written a more interesting show? Fuck no, I'm not a writer. Don't have the patience. But would I have loved to see something closer to what I wanted? Actually, funny enough, the way they handled Marc's multiple personalities in the show was a lot like what I had written, so I dunno, I actually enjoyed how it turned out.

Where am I going with this? We all have our own ideas about the things we want to see. Like, I don't like how Taskmaster was handled in Black Widow. I've said this, and I've said what I wished we could've gotten instead.

But just throwing out generic criticism with nothing inside of it? What's to discuss or debate about that? How is that a fun conversation?

Yeah, this feels like the same criticism I'd see about the Netflix shows not justifying 13 episodes, but I'll tell you what, there's not a single thing I'd change about most of them. Again, I feel like the first thing that would be cut is all the little character bits and side conversations that bring more color to their world outside of the action and intrigue.

Same amount of time = hours of material released. Infinity Saga is about 48 - 50 hours. Phases 4 and 5 have been about 58 hours.

Phases 4 and 5 have certainly not covered as much ground but more hours of material have been produced.

Thunderolts slow reveal? Just like with everything else, it's over a longer time even though more material is produced. We're simply getting more filler.

 

I'd like to point out that having seen every piece of MCU material very, very recently that there's a lot stuff pre current phase that sucked and didn't need to exist as movies either.

The content isn't perfect and a lot of it is close to the mark, but it takes these weird ass wild swings and misses when it matters, but I'm glad they gave the shows a chance instead of doing another boring ass origin movie or a movie where it's just here's the hero against a villain who's a carbon copy of the hero but bad.

People are saying they could have condensed these things into movies when those movies would have blown. At least they finally tried to go against the grain and not do a cookie cutter formula to their media for once. Was it oversaturated? Absolutely 100%, but it was different and I appreciated that.

Again, I think it's unfair to compare based on number of hours, because several of those hours are devoted to a single idea and plotline. A six hour show doesn't necessarily equate to three films worth of content and it's silly to hold it to the same standard.

I also don't agree about the filler part. I don't see why it matters that ideas are being developed over several films instead of unrolled all at once in one film.

I should also point out that in anime, all filler means is stuff that wasn't in the original manga. It's not necessarily an indicator of quality. It's literally called filler because it fills the time between adapted arcs.

I had assumed this but I'm kind of baffled why. Besides barely interacting with him, I'm not sure what I've done that would have warranted it. Honestly, it kind of upsets me a little.

 

We're 10 movies into the Multiverse Saga. I don't think I would've felt confident that it was all building up to something and that we weren't getting any filler if you had asked me about the MCU then.

The 10th movie in the Infinity Saga was Guardians of the Galaxy. Age of Ultron was coming out next. We had already gotten, and were still going to get middle-of-the-road'ish movies here and there. It all just looks much better in retrospective but things didn't really take off until probably Civil War which was the 13th movie of the Infinity Saga.

Fantastic Four is the 13th movie in this saga so maybe there's hope things start turning around then? This saga has been shitty for the most part though ngl.

The TV shows imo should've never had that much bearing on the movies.

 

The MCU sucks and is bad

 

Despite liking the shows and thinking the films do a relatively good job bringing people up to speed, I do have to wonder what would happen if the shows were kept separate.

It's funny because when Agents and the Netflix shows were around, everyone complained that they had no bearing on the films and that they should have crossed over.

And now we're seeing what crossing over looks like, and now that's what people are unhappy with.

No one knows what they really want.
