Just skimmed the top bit but GoT and Oprah being on is insane and Seinfeld not being top 5 is dumb.

BCS has had a fraction of the cultural impact that BB had. I get there's probably a spot for it in the top 100 over something, but it's received very few awards, and there's very little 'casual' love for it (mainly just loved by the die hard BB fans). I can't say I'm surprised or that I feel it was particularly robbed.

You're never going to please everyone with these lists anyway - too much of a cultural and historical impact aspect to it for everyone to agree. If you weren't around when a show was popular, or have seen imitations of it years later, you probably won't agree with it. A lot of older shows I just don't get it.

Even *gasp* Seinfeld - when watching it now and not having grown up on it, it's just meh? It's hard for me to imagine tens of millions of people a week in front of the TV to watch it. I know they did, and I know the impact it had even if I didn't witness, therefore I accept it's place on a list like this but it wouldn't make my top 10.

When virtually every critic has debated or at least considered whether it may have topped BB in quality, and when it's been in the top 20 or at least 30 of any other list I've seen, it's very fair to declare it's been robbed

We're all used to it getting disrespected though. The strikes pushing the Emmys back virtually guarantee it's snubbed for anything again, which I'm sure we all expect anyways

It's for sure my favorite show ever, and lack of recognition would never affect that so whatever lol

I love the show, but I always take these lists with a grain of salt as you have to take into account what they meant for the era that they aired in. It's not just 'what did critics like at the time?' it's what was America watching and talking about around the proverbial and literal water cooler. You cannot argue that BCS had the same level of impact that BB did. The viewership figures, and general online / in person buzz just aren't comparable. From what I saw on the list, especially as you get higher up, there aren't many shows that are on their just for quality alone.

Again, you absolutely could make an argument on quality alone that it deserves a place in the top 100, but how high would you be willing to accept?

I mean the wire didn’t win shit and was almost cancelled after its first season and it’s still high on the list because it deserves it.

I agree and I don't think that contradicts what I'm saying. People still talk about the wire now, especially since it's aged so well with its messaging and themes. I just don't think BCS has the cultural relevance to be a glaring omission. I'd put it on the list of 100 best shows if it was me, but I can understand why it didn't make the cut for somebody else's. It also isn't just 'here's a 100 shows I liked the best', or 'the 100 best critically reviewed shows'. It's got to take into account multiple factors. The wire ticks more of the boxes (probably) used than BCS without a doubt.

That's how I feel about Friends but I'd still say I would understand if it should be higher

Take arms, it'll all blow over Prestigious

I actually think Game of Thrones being on the list is fine, it definitely stumbles after season 4 and completely falls on it's face by the final season, but those first 4 seasons are pretty incredible

The biggest problem with that list is that comparing talk shows to reality shows to scripted dramas dilutes it so much that it has no meaning. If someone says Seinfeld is better than Friends we all know what general parameters we are discussing, just like movies or songs. However, comparing Oprah to the Sopranos and the Real World is like saying chairs versus forks versus socks.

White Lotus was great, but yea, I can't say that Jennifer Coolidge as an individual had a better performance but that's the prestige of HBO I guess.
