What’s frustrating is we knew who Saleh was and that hasn’t changed. Cleveland, Minnesota, and Indy are all competitive with backup QBs. He threw in the towel four plays in because he knew he had a mulligan.

 

A second rounder and Elijah Moore isn’t exactly mortgaging the future.

Sticking with Saleh and Joe Douglas for another season is not great though.

 

At least this validates what I’m saying about the constant setbacks caused by horrible receivers and play calling and it’s a lot more complicated than “Trevor stinky” or whatever.

Y’all are seeing the tail end of a major ripple effect which is him trying to force stuff to receivers he can’t trust, and having to get rid of the ball fast or run and risk injury. On every play. Because the offense fell behind due to constant dumbass fumbles & drops, route running miscommunications, missed field goals in the RED ZONE, and momentum killing dumpoff plays on third down - leaving Trevor to carry everything while neither our blockers or pass catchers are beating their matchups at all.

for awhile Etienne running well was helping Trevor stay calm, helping us keep drives and TOP going, but the rest of the league figured out that if they stack the box and take that away, Press is too stubborn to change things up, too scared to challenge deep - and when the Jags finally do challenge deep out of necessity, not only is it predictable by then, but the Jags line and weapons probably can’t beat the other teams guys one on one anyway. And that’s how we’re getting killed. Teams can call 7-8 man box, close safety plays all game and the odds are we’ll beat ourselves more often than we actually punish them for being so aggressive.

No one not named Tom Brady plays well when they’re agitated and they can’t trust their receivers or line, & it’s also a bit much to expect Trev to handle it as well as Mahomes is handling it. But this erratic, forced decision making is not the norm for him and is actually coming after weeks and weeks of him having a near-perfect first half and repeatedly getting us into scoring range, but the offense still coming up short.

 

It’s mutter. It’s a cool museum if you’re a freak and a weirdo. I like it.
