I don't remember exactly which one I had, but it was more in line with pumpkin pie than pumpkin spice. I'm kinda over beer that tastes like potpourri.

I agree for the most part, I definitely appreciate the pumpkin beers that taste like actual pumpkin or pumpkin pie more at this point.

Finally got to try Fatamorgana last night actually. Great beer.
They recently did a tap takeover at my local, and they brought along soft serve beer ice cream. It was incredible.

I guess it's about the individual and whether or not they're trying to get drunk, or just enjoy a few beers. I know in my teens and early 20s, I was just trying to get drunk off cheap beer so it was Bud Light, Keystone, Natty, Busch Light, Coors, etc. We used to get kegs of PBR in college because it was the cheapest keg.

Drinking a craft beer at that point of my life never even entered my mind as a thought. I don't even know when I really got into drinking craft beers. It was probably a slow process. In my early 20s I started to shift more toward Sam Adams-type beers then probably in my mid-20s I started to shop at retailers that sold individual craft beers.

I'm 31 now...if I'm drinking to get drunk or drinking for hours upon hours (i.e. wedding, bachelor party, sports game, concert, etc) I'll still drink light beers. But if I'm going to the bar just to have a few beers or drinking at home after work, I'm definitely drinking craft beer. I typically try to buy a random 6-pack of craft beer once a week.

The mindset of the person involved is important, yes, but I think the time in which someone is in their early 20's is probably more important. I have, at my disposal, so many more beers than were available in Michigan 10 years ago. I think growing up now, I would've gotten into craft beer much earlier because myself and my friends always tended to dive into things head first -- sports, music -- and beer would've followed suit, I think.

Same, if we're talking quantity I'll easily choose bud light over an IPA, but mostly we just have a couple of good beers rather than a ton of shitty ones.

This is a good point too that I didn't think of. Craft beers (and breweries) are WAY more popular and accessible today than they were 10 years ago.

Yeah, I was in my friend's wedding Saturday and I legitimately probably had like 30 bud lights, haha. Drank from 10:30 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Would have been dead by 1 p.m. if we were slugging crafts.

Two Hearted is a highly underrated beer.

But on a different note, that fresh double IPA I mentioned the other day was incredibly disappointing. It had almost no hop aroma, and even though it had that citrusy, almost pithy/tannic unfiltered, flavor it ultimately wasn't very impressive.

On the other hand, I had some Surly Darkness, and that is a fantastic beer. If you have a chance to grab this year's vintage, I highly recommend doing so and drinking at least one fresh. (I was only able to get two and am still not sure if I'll drink the other soon or let it age a year.) So many imperial stouts – *cough*I'm looking at you Dark Lord*cough* – can be cloyingly sweet, but Surly smartly used a high dose of finishing hops to add some (perceived) bitterness and balance that out.

And right now I'm drinking an unfiltered Lagunitas Born Yesterday, which is much more what I imagine an NEIPA to taste like and it's friggin' phenomenal. The most hop freshness since I had a Sierra Nevada Hop Hunter fresh at the brewery.

Amazes me as I drink La Fin du Monde right now how much easier I can get it in Chicago and than domestically in Nova Scotia.

I always come really close to trying it but am discouraged by it's slightly higher price tag. Is it worth buying?

Are you a fan of tripels generally? LFDM also has orange peel and coriander – more like a wit – but it works quite well with the beer.

Oh definitely. For 9% it drinks incredibly easy. Well-bodied and incredibly flavorful while still being light.

If you like tripels, it absolutely is. Might be the best tripel in the world.

Bourbon County is my limit for sweetness in imperial stouts. I fucking love BCBS, even though it can border on too sweet. Would love to have some darkness, it's eluded me thus far.

Born Yesterday is always great. I see it's at my bottle shop right now, I need to pick some up. But, no, that's not really close to an NEIPA, it's too harsh. Harsh isn't the proper word but it's all I can think of. NEIPA's I've had have been incredibly soft in the mouthfeel. They're carbonated fully, but they almost feel under carbed, if that makes sense. Just soft, unctuous wonderful texture to deliver massive hop aroma and flavor right through the palate. Incredible beers.

This version of the Stone Enjoy By series might be my favorite so far.

All the enjoy by's are awesome, though I think this was a touch sweeter than the others? Might've just been my palate on the day I had them.

I'm going to assume it's a California thing, but Stone teamed with Jenis ice cream for Xocorosa ice cream, which is made to pair with Xocoveza. I'm gonna try to eat/drink tonight and see how it goes
