It’s a playthru of a pokemon game where your goal is to not let your pokemon faint throughout the game. In a typical nuzlocke (there are many variants), if your pokemon faints in battle, you must release it and you no longer have it for the rest of the game. You also typically can only catch the first Mon that shows up in each route/location. It ratchets up the difficulty of a typically easy game.

Generally, you can use a pokemon center. I’m sure some people play it where you can’t. I know some more hardcore gamers implement rules for themselves where they can’t use items in battle or can’t out-level the highest-level pokemon in a gym.

I’ve heard of them for a while now, but I’ve never done one. Definitely becoming interested

I was about to say no pokemon centers is ultra hard mode. The main rule is just no healing items in battle other than held berries

 

Everything is made better by being influenced by lost. Apparently, this rule includes pokemon.

 

i could swear i remember there being pokecenters in Lost

 

The main rules I’ve seen/heard in that community are nicknaming your pokemon, releasing/boxing them if they faint, and only being able to catch the first pokemon you find on every route (unless it’s a duplicate). No healing items in battle is, like, a extra hard mode

Seems v fun though. I definitely think I’m gonna give it a try sometime soon-ish. Right now, I’m interested in just playing through each game because I haven’t beaten a couple of the ones I last played a long time ago and I haven’t even played any of the last four generations of games

 

Honestly ROTK doesn't even work after having seen the extended.

 

if you play just one, Legends: Arceus is the one to play. Similar enough to the main line games to not feel like a complete spinoff but different enough to feel like an actual evolution vs playing the same game on a different map and different generation of Pokémon

 

I have beaten ocarina of time without dying before but i did of course eat hearts and drink potions like a beta.
