I’m saying this as someone who thought this was stupid and would only last one or two seasons tops. The stats have been supporting these games being more competitive overall. At least in the group stage, there were a higher percentage of close IST games compared to normal regular season games. Granted, something like intensity is hard to measure. And I’ll admit just looking at how close each game has been isn’t a sure fire way to measure it. The elimination games have been 50/50 and it’s also a sample size of one season, so time will tell. I think the NBA regular season is great. But I dunno, the eye test tells me these games have been more fun and competitive than your average regular season game.

Orlando with a nice win over Detroit behind 27 and 24 from Franz and Paolo, respectively. It was nice to see Jett Howard get a little burn and knock down a couple shots, too. He's been playing in the G League, and I think he looked a bit more poised in his minutes tonight.

As a Bulls fan, I thought this would be your game too. Things look bleak right now, but at least the Spurs have a bright future.

 

My only consolation/rationalization is that they gotta still be in tank mode. Most of the games have been super competitive and entertaining until midway through the third quarter they’re like “oh yeah we’re supposed to lose”

 

I’m biased as a Colorado fan, but Cody Williams with Wemby could be an insane combo next year if they Spurs end up in that top range again.

 

Part of me is feeling like they want a top pick to trade for another star? They got picks for days stacked up

 

Maybe. I dunno, I feel like it’s tough to try and get stars to come in and pair with a very young potential star. Even if you trade for one, it’s not a guarantee they’ll stick around to have made it worth it in the long run.
