After like, 8 listens, this definitely pencils its way into my top 3 of 2016 w/ Butch and prob Direct Hit or Dirty Nil. The bridge in "Pretty Grids" is awesome, btw. Random note.

It Matters is probably my favorite after a few listens. This album is reminding me of Futures in all the right ways. Craig pretty much nailed it in his review. Get Right was my least favorite of the singles but man... it hits such a sweet spot in the track-listing. I'm liking it a lot more in context. Even the song order is an art form on this.

I just realized... My Enemy would be PERFECT after Pass the Baby. Same key. If they worked it a little different, PTB would flow directly into My Enemy. Dare I say it could replace Get Right? Hmm.

Ugghhh I really need to get my hands on My Enemy.

EDIT - NEVERMIND ITS OUT THERE ON THE WEBS NOW

I feel like I'm tooting my own horn here, but there's definitely a link to download My Enemy over in the b-sides thread...

hmm my enemy is good but if it was on the record it would have to replace get right. seems to have a similar function/vibe. would sound pretty good after pass the baby too.

I agree with all of this.

Damn, 1975 is probably in my top three AOTYs of the last decade. My top three this year are exceptionally strong, but then again they were last year too.

    Wait, what?

Isn't the JEW message board where I know you from all those years ago? I could have sworn, wait .... it was the Fightstar forum wasn't it? Right? Please tell me you were on the Fightstar forum and that I'm not losing my mind. If that's not the case, I must just have seen you around here (and AP.net) all these years. I'm confusing message boards in my mind, those were my two biggest ones. I miss band message boards!

On a side note, this album is fucking brilliant! Does anyone have the Sure & Certain 7" they can rip "My Enemy" from? I'd love to hear it. Had no idea it was a pre-order only bonus vinyl until now, they're sold out everywhere apparently :(

Yeah, the Fightstar forums! I miss that place, haha. I came to AP originally because of a Fightstar band chat that I found out about on that Fightstar forum, ha.

I definitely remember you! So many good times from back then. I was gutted when they closed it down.

yep! really gutted, it was a great community. i definitely got a lot out of my experience there that i wont forget. i feel really nostalgic about some of the crazy (for me at the time) memories like when the trombino sessions started to creep out and there was so much hype and mystery around them. I remember some sceptics who believed they were a myth and never existed but I always had faith. Anyway im rambling. its good to see you here on Chorus!

    hmmm

I used to frequent the Fightstar forums too, even at the end when there was pretty much no activity at all because of the hiatus.

I see why My Enemy was left off the album. I was a little let down by it first listen. Maybe it'll grow on me. Would've been my least favorite track if it were on the album.

I was wondering why the album couldn't just have 12 songs, but then I listened to My Enemy and realized it would probably screw up the pacing wherever it's placed. Love the song, but Through is definitely more accessible.

I love the bass in it and the fact that Jim screams for the first time since Clarity (I think?). I so badly wanted to talk about it when I heard a low-fi version of it last week but didn't want to spoil it for anyone.

Yeah, I love it too! It reminds me of the demo of Nothing Wrong where Jim had a scream-solo.

I would say he screams at the end of Bleed American. Also a bit in Nothingwrong (and the Trombino demo version like @StopherNYC said). Actually can't think of any screams in Clarity, though I guess there's a fair amount of strained vocals.

I just looked at my iTunes and there are like 12 albums that could contend for my top five, so maybe I'm underselling this year. Haha

Thank you!!! I thought I was going mad for a second there. I was Bitterfly and then WarMachine. I remember you because of all the different Gerard Way avatars :) Do you miss the Dave bashing as much as I do? haha. Loved that guy!

I remember the Trombino sessions leaking, I was the first to actually post them on the message board haha. I had a load of people complaining at me and another load thanking me. Did the same thing for the CTL demos. I met a lot of cool people from back then.

So true. It kinda just faded into nothingness. I was hoping they'd bring it back when BTDB came out but they didn't. I guess message boards for bands in the age of social media don't really work anymore. I think that's what I love so much about Chorus. Seeing all the opinions and recommendations on albums and bands is awesome. It's one of the reasons I've been coming back all these years. I don't get involved all that often but it's SO nice just to have the choice. @Jason Tate Thank you to the staff of this place, it may have changed but it still feels like home!

I disagree with what most people here are saying about My Enemy - I think it actually would fit perfectly on the album. I can admit that overall sound-wise it is similar to Get Right, but I don't see why the album can only have one faster, heavier song, or why having two similarly faster songs throws off the album.

I always end up feeling this way about pretty much every single JEW b-side / bonus track. The difference this time is that (so far, and I know it's early) but there simply isn't a weaker track on this album. All 11 songs are absolutely killer.
