I used to bike back at Penn State all the time. And it can definitely be a nerve wracking experience until you get used to it.
Then someone stole my bike senior year, so I stopped since I couldn’t fine a new bike I liked.

In my experience, it’s because we’re tired of cars treating us like we’re another car and not exercising extra care around cyclists

drivers being frustrated at urban traffic is not an excuse to try to run cyclists off the road and cut it way too close when you pass them. Cars will literally squeeze me up against parked cars and I’ll have to stop to avoid hitting mirrors or getting doored

Because pedestrians can’t cause nearly the amount of trouble a biker can, while also maintaining a 670% increase in petulant attitude defending their hobby lol

I just straight up disagree with blaming bikes for causing trouble when cars weigh 2 tons

Lol from the Boston end, the Bikers rights arguments are particularly annoying when you consider how impractical it is to prioritize bike lanes in a city that’s cold and snowy for 6 months of the year.

“Bikes think they own the road”

Or maybe, they’re entitled to being given space in parts of town where there isn’t a bike lane?

it’s also not a “petulant attitude about their hobby” it’s being adamant about protecting themselves from dying on their primary mode of transportation. Perspective is a motherfucker, try riding your bike around town once and see how it is, I promise you’ll understand bikers attitudes WAY more

    anyway that’s what imma say

At some point drivers have to acknowledge that until cities have actual bike lanes they gotta be patient and share the road. There is nowhere fully safe for bikes to ride in 80% of cities so chill out and go 15 mph for a couple blocks and take a detour to go around the bike if you have to. The bike can’t go any faster and they aren’t allowed on the sidewalk either (though sometimes I break that rule if the road is too sketchy)

My experience is are bikers are mostly fine, I now live near a parkway with bike lanes so they all typically use that. Only major gripe I have with them is when I’m cruising 30-35 MPH and one decides to come flying off a side street onto the main road and I’m forced to slow down/move instantly when they are the ones not paying attention.

When I one single biker stop at a red light, or let pedestrians cross, I’ll consider being patient lol
