Interesting. I bring this up because another article pointed out that only one game of those five is self-published.

Team17, Thunderful, and Annapurna aren't on the level of Nexon or Microsoft, of course, but I guess the question there is how big or small does a company have to be to still be indie?

Is this a serious answer? Because I'm asking a serious question.

Take Annapurna for example. Annapurna Interactive is actually a division of the larger Annapurna Pictures, which has hands in film, television, and theater.

I had forgotten this, but they even at one point were competing for the right to make James Bond films.

So with that in mind, at what point is an independent company still independent? What does independent actually mean in this context?

i know it is/was genuinely very popular on its own merits. funny enough i see it came out a couple months before minecraft. have you played it?

 

I played a little, but really I'm not that into that kind of game. I'm more of a story-based, goal-oriented kind of person.
