We had the heat shut off in our home a few times that we were renting growing up because my mom couldn't afford to get the oil tank refilled in time and my Dad would always cry poor and give her a hard time paying for stuff. She never took him to court for child support after they broke up but I wish she would have, we woulda had a lot more money growing up lol. He was only giving her $400 a month for the house rent, which when we had to move to an apartment when I was a teenager that obviously didn't cover rent anymore.

I also was a latchkey kid by 10 and staying home by myself for hours at a time because she had to work. Learned how to put certian foods in the oven to cook dinner for myself (after mom prepared it) and also eventually how to boil water to cook ramen lol
