THIS IS THE WORST DAY OF MY LIFE

 

My friend had no updates all weekend and then got an update of Weds arrival just about an hour ago, I bet you are good.

 

I hope so, I’m an impatient ass.

 

I spent about an hour wandering around the subway tunnels in AW2 thinking I missed something after The Dark Presence kept murdering me in the collapsed tunnel. Derp. I wasn't really frustrated at all which is a testament to how good this game is. I just really love the atmosphere and the act of piecing together the story and cases. Also, the dread that sets in when you have zero extra batteries is palpable.

 

Pro tip for anyone going for all the collectibles in AW2: get them BEFORE you finish Sagas last chapter and obviously before the point of no return. If you don’t, it’s not a big deal BUT the game will be locked in perpetual darkness and you will have to fight off enemies constantly. Also, the Wolves will haunt my dreams.

Player's Log: Trails Of Cold Steel.

Finished Chapter 1 and now I'm in the free day for Chapter 2.

I actually ended up turning voices back on because now having gone through all the Crossbell games with voices, it feels weird not having them. It also feels weird seeing mouth motions during battle or when I'm out on the field and not hearing the voices that go with them.

That said, it's still so distracting when Rean remains unvoiced and everyone else is fine, except for minor characters who also remain unvoiced. I mean, the Crossbell games were very clear about voices happening during main story and voices not happening during everything else, but this game seems to just be haphazard.

I read on the internet that this is mainly because the voice actor they got for Rean is incredibly expensive and so they only could afford so many lines, which sounds plausible, but then I feel like they should've just hired a cheaper actor.

I also read that the English dub is no different, and this is because even though XSeed wanted to add more English lines to the game, Falcom coded the game in such a way that it became impossible, so XSeed could only translate the voice lines that were already present.

Game development is weird, y'all.

Still loving the game though, although it's weird I'm in Chapter 2 and the only S-Breaks I have are for Rean and Laura. Apparently the others get theirs at different points in the game? Seems an odd way to go about it, but okay.

I feel like I'm just gonna have to run with the game for my first playthrough and worry about any achievements I don't end up getting with my next playthrough.
