Yeah, my daughter could do a better job on that artwork. Not representative of the music at all.

This album as a whole is pretty good but “Broadview” is one of my favorite songs of the year. Hope they lean into that sound more in the future. But the rest is good too!

Saw them last night, they were great but there were like 3 or 4 things that surprised me:

    1) it was absolutely packed at a 500 cap venue, very pleasantly surprised at how popular they are. Youngest crowd I’ve seen in a while, too

    2) my one complaint about the band is they don’t lean into the heavy aspects of their sound as much live. I feel like they play their songs as though they’re Real Estate when on record there’s a lot more like mbv/hum/weezer etc distortion and crunch. Would have loved several songs a little bit louder and faster

    3) somehow I missed that two of their Spotify top 5 are super old. Kinda goes hand in hand w my surprise at their popularity, had no idea. Either of those big on tiktok?

    4) back of the crowd where I was stuck for a while suuuucked. Never heard more talking at a show for a headliner in my life. And so it’s clear this isn’t an old man yells at clouds post, much more of the late 20s/30s crowd were the rude ones

Anyways they played near everything, band rules, her voice is awesome live. Touring 5th member for keys, 3rd guit, and bgvs was a perfect addition also. Hope some of you are seeing them this tour

I saw them live last weekend, incredible show. They’ve already started to blow up with their tour being pretty much completely sold out but I can see them being huge next year.

This a short and really sweet album. It'll end up in my EOTY top 100.

I’m not even sure I’ll have a top ten this year. Grad school and teaching full time will do that to you.

Thought I’d have gotten over it by now but man, the title track just entirely halts the momentum built on the first half of this record lol. Every time it comes on with that wonky ass piano I can’t skip fast enough. Sorry to be negative but it’s so jarring that it honestly feels like they’re trolling me

With that said, I think some time away from this helped me sever association with a lot of these songs as singles. I enjoy listening to it more now

  15. I love the title track lolol for some reason the delivery of "I think I've become her" and "watch out for Heather" lines in "Cramps" are super jarring to me. I definitely overplayed the singles though.

Idk, undeniably a good album but I do miss the quieter folk sound of the first record. I just haven't gone back to this one much

I think this is a huge leap forward but the title track is the weakest link

Dang, I like the title track a lot. This would be my AOTY if the back half kept up with the front.

I like the title track but it has definitely fallen off for me faster than the other songs. Lyrically it feels kinda weak to me and that's like 50% of what's going on.

The three singles and Mud and Carina Phone still blow me away.

  23. This album is undeniably good stuff, but is it weird that I much prefer the experimentation and production on the first record?
