  1. "I don't think anybody in the band ever responded back to the emails and double checked the lyrics." - Aaron Rubin.

There we have it! The explanation on why some of the lyrics were wrong in the lyric booklet haha.

Love that second Aaron interview where he's going track by track. I love a lot of what he says, but I know there are things in there that would make Tom fans mad lol. Specifically about keeping AvA out of blink by not making any of the songs be too reliant on synths or have the synths be the basis of the track. Also not letting Tom recycle melodies or put long intros at the beginning of the songs.

I think that interview is the first time the curtain has really been pulled back about when they wrote a lot of the songs which was interesting. He specifically says January 2022 is when they first started demoing and that songs like "Turpentine", "Dance With Me" and "More Than You Know" (and a couple of scrapped songs) were some of the earliest ones started by Tom (even before "Edging" apparently). And that "When We Were Young" was the last Tom song written for the album.

Only thing I'm still really even curious on is what songs, if any, were written/started after the band decided to push on through that January 2023 deadline. But overall, it sounds like the band had their groove right from the start.

So the first couple songs they did together were scrapped but also from the first batch of songs was Dance with Me, More Than You Know, and Turpentine. All so fucking good, what a comeback

Almost feels like it was an idea to intro the album to me, but plans changed. Or maybe I’be just gotten used to Tom doing those sort of intros on AVA albums.

I skip a lot of the album unfortunately but this seems about right.

Anthem Part 3 could have been so much greater if the outro happened twice. Also still feel like the chorus doesn’t live up to the name. The chorus bugs the hell out of me. It would’ve been cool too if they incorporated the “ooos” from the first Anthem’s “I Time Bomb” part.

But yah. Other Side is the only song I’m completely happy with. Verse. Chorus. Bridge. Everything. A lot of these songs rank so high just because of one part but that one part was amazing enough to carry the whole song. Everything 10-17 is just skipped usually.

I’m curious about the songs that were cut….

It's clear from what others have said about not reviewing the lyrics to them not really taking it too seriously that they probably wouldn't have deliberately made that song as an intro to the album. In fact between that and all the cowrites they may have not even realized they recorded songs for an album.

    House of Protect Ron.

The aaron interviews crushed. I have really felt the through line of tom branching out in a meaningful way on dreamwalker and lifeforms that cleared the path for him the crush on OMT. loved the BTS from aaron about how it got there. Haven’t done a play on dreamwalker in years. definitely not my favorite from tom but there’s some really rad ideas and it’s cool to have the context that he’s had this building need to push himself in big new directions while also getting back to his roots.

lol in the 182 podcast the interviewer is all “oh man i can really hear how tom got to omt from odds and ends “

aaron “…. yeah idk on that one…”

bummed that ava doc is in limbo indefinitely, would love some more context for that era in toms career. those comeback shows were nuts.

aaron if you’re lurking in here blink die hards we’re lucky to have you in the fold in this era of the band \mmm/

Also weak the Gear 182 dude didn't ask Aaron to elaborate on BLINK WAVE - he was just like "We already touched on that let's move to BAD NEWS" but Aaron said earlier BLINK WAVE is the only one he did with all three of the guys in the room so it would've been fun to hear more about that one from him. Missed opportunity.

From the 182 News podcast it sounds like we have Aaron to thank for reigning Tom in on this LP. We should send him a gift basket or something

Yeah it was probably helpful that Aaron was a fan of blink before he started working with them and also worked with them on DED. It was huge that Aaron saw/realized the issues with Neighborhoods and DED and Tom actually listened to him to tone the AVA stuff down. Imagine Dance With Me with a long intro like it was originally?

I just imagine it being like "An Endless Summer" or whatever that solo song was called. Just a goofy, synthy intro that doesn't match the tone and adds nothing to the song. Basically just pads it to be longer lol.
