Yeah, the book Where Are Your Boys Tonight goes deep into this very thing. The Used were maybe the biggest in the scene, then the pendulum starting swinging in MCR’s favor… basically all in real time during between Warped 04 and (particularly) Taste of Chaos 05. The they fell out over the release of Under Pressure and MCR shot to the moon

I'd pick The Black Parade, Chasing Safety, Chroma, Viva La Cobra, and Discovering the Waterfront, all of which I haven't seen live yet.

Yeah, it was wild to watch all of that in real-time! I actually saw MCR open up as first of four on a co-headliner with the Used and Finch (the Movielife were direct support).

But when Three Cheers dropped and radio/MTV picked up the singles MCR rocketed right up to them for about a year... And then they shot right past them when "Helena" dropped.

They're Only Chasing Safety, The New Romance, Bleed American, Stay What You Are, Commit This To Memory

  8. Black Parade (for the spectacle)
Bleed American (the best album being performed)
    Chroma (never seen Cartel)
The Greatest Generation (because I can't miss a TWY show)
In the Shadow of Two Gunmen (hometown(ish) heroes)

Big regret passing up MCR on a side stage at 04 warped. By taste of chaos they had everyone in the palm of their hand. One of the few performances that I can say changed my life

We reach for the longest shadow

Good Apollo, The Greatest Generation, Constellations, Beetle album, and Collide with the Sky.

Mothership would've been on there before the DGD debacle of the last year or so. NTFP if it was Stephen, don't really care since it's Matty.

EDIT: somehow glossed totally over Black Parade, haha. That would replace Collide with the Sky on my list.

Wish pierce the veil were doing their debut rather than collide with the sky. While I realize in retrospect that that album was huge, ~2012 was when a lot of these bands started to lose some of their uniqueness and all sorta converged onto this massive metalcore-esque sound that stayed big but quickly lost a lot of luster to me. Didn’t realize it at the time but I thought they and many of their peers were declining. Lot of my friends “grew out” of the scene so I didn’t know as many people listening to them and yet the numbers got bigger.

  14. Pretty easy since I've already seen Underoath and MCS play those particular albums.

I thought Selfish Machines was the more popular album honestly, but I don't really have a good gauge on their fanbase. I will say both those albums hold up better than I expected them to when I listened earlier this year.

I think I skipped them at Warped Tour in '04 oddly. But I saw them on the day that Three Cheers dropped in a ~200-cap room here in Boston. So. That was neat. Haha.

I'm pretty impressed with the social media team for the festival, the got basically every single band to post about the lineup announcement with coordinated copy and images, then today I am seeing every band post a photo of the album they are going to play and ask what songs people are excited to hear. I'm sure we'll see more coordinated posts like this in the near future until the fest sells out as well
