Lol literally all I was thinking of. I remember the day my band (terrible band) sent him our demo and messaged him through AIM in like late 04 or early 05. He immediately asked us, 17-18 year old dudes, to wear black socks when we visit him to walk on his back. How many people did he ask to do this!? Wild.

Sick part is, at the time, I remember not tying this to any type of predatory or sexual behavior.. I thought it was just like this funny weird thing.

 

Easily the weirdest thing in the scene that does not get talked about enough. I know we talk about it a lot here, but it’s truly disturbing.

 

Dude signed New Found Glory and still couldn’t afford a chiropractor…. And that’s the most generous case scenario here. More likely he just kinked out on having teenage boys come to his house and walk on his back.

I’m admittedly not a person that follows the career of Melanie Martinez, but it really felt like the allegations brought against her didn’t even register as a speed bump. It’s like she pressed a skip button on it lol. Her fans literally do not care at all it’s crazy

 

They’ve convinced themselves it’s not true and try to actively suppress it. I can see why a lot of people are not aware of it with her.

 

Her fans all bullied the accuser into silence, it’s amazing how big she still is

Exactly. The person said they were pressured for sex for hours on multiple occasions despite repeatedly declining before Melanie just stopped caring and proceeded anyway. And Melanie came out the next day and was like yeah I did that shit, you should’ve said no. Anyway,

 

Yeah, Beach Bunny announced she's opening for Martinez and Kennyhoopla announced he's opening 30 Seconds To Mars. I'm sure those are bags and exposure no newer artist can say no to, but it is disappointing.

 

I know there are people with weird creepy personas that are good people but Melanie's is so bizarre like straight from sexy baby to creepy monster thing

 

The thing is when they were booked to open for Panic there was a lot of backlash and Lili made a comment about not knowing about any of the Brendon Urie stuff and then they dropped off the tour, so she very well may just not know about the allegation. They’re getting dragged a lot in the quote replies on X so maybe they will do the same here.

 

I don't mean to lessen it, but was there confirmed Urie stuff besides him saying the n-word on Twitch? I remember some tweets but I also seem to remember something about weird fanfiction

Either way, gotta be a bummer to be a band like Beach Bunny and potentially have to drop off two huge tours.

FWIW I've never heard a Melanie Martinez song and never have come across anything about her in the wild, I ONLY know who she is because of the accusations against her.

So I guess my point is that if I know about them, as someone with literally zero ties to her music, many others must know too, right?

Never have heard a song from her. Only know her name from this thread/site as well.

 

She had a couple minor alt-rock hits almost a decade ago. Now she pretty much just has her feverish fanbase.
